Lately, it’s been really hard to focus on the positive parts of the NDIS and what Support Coordination truly means to the people who live and breathe this role every day.

The amazing people I know in this industry — including the incredible women I have the pleasure of working alongside — didn’t start in this role because it was easy. We started because we are passionate about making sure the people we support have the right funding, the right services, and the right opportunities to live the life they deserve.

The negativity and ongoing challenges within the NDIS can make that part of the job harder every single day. But this week, I had some beautiful reminders of why I love what I do and why I will continue fighting for our participants.

One moment in particular really stuck with me.

I was supporting one of my long-standing participants who has struggled for a long time to really connect with supports and feel part of the community around him. This week, I organised a meet and greet with a new provider and within minutes the two of them were chatting away like they’d known each other forever.

At one point I realised I was basically just sitting there listening because they completely forgot I was even in the room — and I loved every second of it.

From the moment I met the provider, I had a feeling they would be a perfect match, and seeing that connection happen naturally was such a reminder of why this role matters so much.

At AffinitySC, we pride ourselves on not referring people to providers simply because we know them personally or have existing relationships with them. Instead, we spend our time networking, learning, and building knowledge of the supports available so we can help match participants with the providers who are the best fit for them.

Every person we work with is unique and deserves supports that genuinely fit their individual needs.

Because when the right connection happens, it’s powerful.

And I truly believe this new connection is going to change this person’s life and give them the sense of community they’ve been missing.

These are the moments that remind us why we keep going 💙

Yesterday, the NDIS Minister released an update addressing the proposed changes to the NDIS. We understand that many of our clients, families, and stakeholders are feeling uncertain and anxious about what this means for the future.

We want to reassure you of a few key points:

• The Minister has confirmed that changes will be gradual and carefully implemented — there will be time to understand and prepare.
• Participants will continue to receive support, and there is a strong focus on maintaining quality and safety.
• Clearer information and guidance will continue to be released as reforms progress.

At AffinitySC, our team is actively monitoring all updates as they are announced. We are staying informed so we can provide you with accurate, up-to-date advice and support.

We know how stressful uncertainty can be, especially when it relates to essential supports. Please be reassured that no changes will be made without time for providers and participants to prepare — and you will not be navigating this alone.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would simply like to talk through what this means for you or your loved one, our team is here to help.

We’re in this together 💙
