There was loose hair everywhere, weaving between dreadlocks and fluffing around the roots. But that hair is not lost! It just needs a little guidance by your friendly Loctician to get back where it bloody belongs. 😂

One thorough maintenance later and everything is crocheted neatly back into place. The runaway hairs were popped back in but we did leave the clients gorgeous bangs/fringe as they frame their face beautifully.

If you are needing your loose hair tidy-up session because you can feel those stray bits getting out of control, it's time to book yourself that maintenance you deserve to treat yourself with.

August is very nearly booked the hell out. 😅 And I'm SWEATING about it.
Y'all are amazing and I'm so honoured you guys are keen to book in with me. I never imagined in a million years that I would be booked like this for so many awesome projects and styles.

The last spots for August are:

September is now filling up too, which feels deeply unreasonable because I’m pretty sure it was March five minutes ago. 😂 Anywho, we are here now. Time flies doesn't it?
The books for September are a little more flexible but that isn't lasting long. I know it sounds like I'm just repeating myself and just marketing the hell out of this but, truly, you need to book in advance. Especially if you are desiring specific dates for events and such. Unfortunately I only have one pair of hands to create dreadlock and braid magic. 🪄

After months of trying braid-in dreadlocks, this client took the huge leap to finally get her dreadlocks made permanent! 🥳

She's now rocking some gorgeous dreadlocks with:

QOTD: So how do you know if a bead is fitting correctly? 🤔

A well-fitted bead should slide onto the dreadlock with little resistance and stay securely in place. They can be snug but they shouldn't need to be shoved, twisted or forced over a section that’s too thick.
If you have to stain and really go at it like it's tug of war, that bead isn't going to fit. Or, even worse, you'll get it on but you won't be able to get it off which can lead to mould, residue build up, and we'll have to break the bead ( sad 😢 ) to get it off.

Most dreadlocks sit somewhere between 6mm - 9mm as a rough guide. For this reason, most dreadlock beads are usually designed as 5-6mm or 8-9mm holes (with mild variation due to production) and this is the sizes I stock the most of them.

Sometimes your dreadlocks might be a bit more friendly with each other than desired.

A little joining at the roots is normal, but it's still something we want to jump on early. We don't want them becoming one giant emotionally entangled mega-dread because those take a lot more time to fix than your regular upkeep.

Regular maintenance is the key to help keep your sections tidy and the whole situation from turning into a scene.
I recommend maintenance every 8-12 weeks-ish to keep your dreadlocks on track for happy, healthy, and separate lives.

These little beachy boho wraps were made with one very important requirement: they still had to behave under a motorbike helmet. 🏍️

After a good consultation with the client, we decided to keep them thinner, lighter, and much less likely to turn helmet hair into a full-contact sport. She plans to wear these lower, towards the nape of her neck, for the most comfort. Which, to be fair, is my favorite spot for a wrap to go.

So how do you wear these?
Well, she can braid them in for a more semi-permanent style, or add the detachable clips I gave her for the easiest little clip-in, take-out situation whenever the mood changes.
Hair wraps don't HAVE to be done directly on the hair. And, much like her placement choices, this is my favourite way to do wraps because you get to keep them forever rather than having to take them out after a week or so.

This newly dreadlocked topknot turned out so cool and I'm so glad I remembered to take the photos of this one.

At the end of this appointment, we decided to do my favourite braid at the end. It's technically not really a braid but it looks awesome and it's my go to one for a quick, easy style that looks amazing.

Thinking about having a little something extra at the end of your maintenance or, maybe, you just want to look great on a random Wednesday 'just because why not?'
