The Eye of Ra symbol represents the fierce, protective and transformative power of the sun.

Connected to the solar god Ra, the Eye was understood as an active extension of his divine power. It could protect, illuminate and restore order, but it could also become a force of destruction against anything threatening Ma’at… balance, truth and cosmic order.

The Eye of Ra was also personified through several powerful goddesses, particularly Sekhmet, Hathor, Bastet and Wadjet. In the myth of the Eye of Ra, the Eye can take the form of a goddess sent forth with Ra’s power… most famously associated with Sekhmet’s fierce, protective energy.

𓆄 The Feather of Ma’at ⚖️✨

The Feather of Ma’at is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of truth, justice, balance, harmony and cosmic order.

Ma’at was both a sacred principle and a Neteret (goddess) who embodied the natural order that kept the universe in balance. She is traditionally depicted wearing a single ostrich feather upon her head, which became her defining symbol.

The feather played an especially important role in the Weighing of the Heart. After death, a person’s heart was weighed against the Feather of Ma’at. If the heart balanced with the feather, it showed that the person had lived in accordance with Ma’at and could continue their journey into the afterlife.

This sacred ceremony connects the feather with Ma’at, Anubis, who oversaw the weighing, Thoth, who recorded the result, and Osiris, who presided over the judgement of the deceased.

But Ma’at wasn’t only something considered after death. The Ancient Egyptians were encouraged to live Ma’at every day… through honesty, fairness, responsibility, balance and right relationship with others, the Neteru and the natural world.

In modern magick, we can work with the Feather of Ma’at when seeking truth, clarity, justice, energetic balance and alignment. Place the symbol on your altar, meditate with it before making an important decision, or ask yourself:
