TAMS is proud to invite eligible community members to participate in a The University of Melbourne research project led by Master of Genomics and Health student Jackson Rees, with assistance from TAMS.

The project explores patient experiences of MCAD diagnosis and genetic testing, including KIT D816V and TPSAB1 testing, access to testing, how clearly results were explained and their role in clinical discussions.

โญ๏ธ Community Recognition | Ange McArthur โญ๏ธ

It was a pleasure to deliver a Community Recognition Statement celebrating the incredible Ange McArthur and her nomination as the 2026 Local Woman of the Year. ๐Ÿ’œ

Ange's tireless advocacy for people living with a disability is making a real difference, helping more than 100 NDIS participants while creating employment opportunities that value lived experience.

Thank you, Ange, for everything you do to build a more inclusive and compassionate community. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! ๐Ÿ‘

I'm not sure if this applies to every SC/PRC out there, but I know I've had a few scenarios where a really sh*tty outcome has left me as the bad guy, and here's a gentle reminder that it's not cool, and that's not what we're here for.
This was the year I decided I don't tolerate it, and I encourage others to as well. We can only do what we can do ๐Ÿงก
If you genuinely have a terrible SC/PRC, that's a whole other kettle of fish and I think we know how I feel about that ๐Ÿ˜…

A square graphic with a soft blue background and abstract orange, purple and black decorative shapes. The heading reads, "A gentle reminder (this may not apply to everyone, but just in case)." The post explains that Support Coordinators (SCs) and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches (PRCs) cannot make the NDIS approve funding, speed up wait times, override legislation, or create approvals that aren't supported by evidence or legislation. It emphasises that SCs and PRCs do not have the power to overturn NDIS decisions and can only work within the legislation and evidence available.

๐ŸŒปImage 2/3
A purple background with the same abstract design elements. The post explains what Support Coordinators and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches can do: advocate, provide evidence, escalate concerns, explore options and continue pursuing available pathways. It states they can challenge decisions where appropriate but must work within NDIS processes. The post acknowledges that many participants understandably look to their SC or PRC for answers during the current NDIS climate, but they cannot solve every problem. It ends by recognising that most SCs and PRCs are doing their best with the system they have to work within.

๐ŸŒžImage 3/3
A blue background with an illustration of an angry face and a speech bubble containing symbols representing swearing. The post reminds readers that when an NDIS or NDIA decision is disappointing, it is likely not their Support Coordinator or Psychosocial Recovery Coach's fault. It says SCs and PRCs are not the punching bagโ€”they can help hold space, share frustration, advocate where possible, and help plan next steps. The final message reads, "We're angry too."

Lately I've been trying to find the words to describe what it feels like working in the disability sector, and I keep coming back to one term: moral injury.
Moral injury isn't burnout. It isn't compassion fatigue. It isn't being "too emotional" or caring too much.

It's what happens when you're repeatedly placed in situations where your values, ethics, and professional knowledge tell you one thing, but the system allows or demands another.

It's knowing a participant needs support and watching them fight for it.
It's seeing families pushed to breaking point while trying to navigate impossible processes.

It's spending hours advocating, escalating, gathering evidence, writing reports, and explaining the same thing over and over again, only to watch people fall through the cracks anyway.

As both a Support Coordinator and an NDIS participant myself, I see this from both sides.

I see participants being treated as costs instead of people.
I see professionals forced to justify basic human needs.
I see a disability community that is exhausted, frightened, and increasingly unheard.

And I think many of us are carrying a level of grief that isn't being talked about enough.
Not grief because we care too much. Grief because we care deeply and are constantly witnessing preventable harm.

If you've been feeling angry, helpless, heartbroken, disillusioned, or questioning whether you're making a difference, you might not be burnt out.

You might be experiencing moral injury.

And if that's you, you're certainly not alone.

So keeping this from y'all has been really hard but IT WAS RELEASED TODAY AND I CAN FINALLY TELL YOUUUUU!
In March, I responded to a call out looking for late diagnosed AFAB neurodivergent humans to share their experiences. This lead to a follow up chat with one of the producers, where she soft-launched the new podcast the ABC Australia team were working on and explained the purpose of the chat, and invited me to be on the pod with none other than Grace Tame ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸŽ‰

It was so much fun, and it was like we'd known each other for yonks.
If you'd like to have a listen, I'll pop the links in my bio and below ๐Ÿ‘‚๐ŸŽง๐Ÿงก

Text reads: โ€œI did another podcast...โ€ and โ€œI am so excited to now be able to share this! Link in caption & bio.โ€ A screenshot of the ABC podcast Ladies, We Need To Talk episode titled โ€œThe health gap no one talks aboutโ€ is shown, featuring an interview with autistic advocate Grace Tame. An arrow points from the podcast image to the photo of the two people standing together.

Image 2:
Text reads: โ€œObviously I had to get Grace to sign her book.โ€ Beside the photo is a quote attributed to Grace Tame: โ€œDear Ange / Rupert, My neuro-Queen! Youโ€™re a fu***ng legend and it was a pleasure to yarn with you. I await an invite to join you for GF cheesecake. Until then, stay cool. Big love, Grace xo.โ€ Below is a photo of the handwritten message and signature inside the book. Additional text humorously notes that security could only find an access code for โ€œRupert,โ€ which was amusing for several reasons. The McArthur Services logo appears in the bottom corner.

See you there!! ๐Ÿงก

I keep getting asked if I'd run another PMDD workshop and so I finally listened because my PMDD has been PMDD'ing ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The good part of that is that I've now had more personal experiences of treatment options over the past two months to add to the lived experience side of things, I suppose ๐Ÿ˜…

This workshop will be live online and also recorded and sent out for people want can't attend live or prefer to watch it at 2x speed, or whatever your preference is.

This is an interesting format I suppose because it's targeted at both clinicians and people who are PMDD curious/experiencers. I think I'm pretty good at speaking to both audiences at once and I really like to just treat people like the experts in their own lives anyway so it fits my vibe.

Thursday 16th April at 5.30 AEST. Or recorded and you can listen/watch whenever you get around to it.
