🌈 EAT THE RAINBOW: Nutrition Meets Ancient Wisdom

Ever notice how the most nourishing bowls just *happen* to look like a rainbow? That's not a coincidence β€” it's wisdom thousands of years in the making.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each color is linked to a specific organ system and element:

🟒 GREEN (Wood) β†’ Liver β€” leafy greens like kale and spinach support detoxification and the smooth flow of qi
πŸ”΄ RED (Fire) β†’ Heart β€” tomatoes and berries are said to nourish blood and calm the spirit
🟑 YELLOW/ORANGE (Earth) β†’ Spleen & Stomach β€” sweet potatoes and squash support digestion and steady energy
βšͺ WHITE (Metal) β†’ Lungs β€” foods like sesame seeds and mushrooms support respiratory health and immunity
⚫ BLACK/DARK (Water) β†’ Kidneys β€” black sesame, mushrooms, and dark beans are prized for supporting vitality and longevity

Modern nutrition backs this up too β€” different colored plant pigments (phytonutrients like beta-carotene, anthocyanins, and chlorophyll) each bring their own antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. So when you build a colorful bowl, you're not just eating beautifully β€” you're covering your nutritional bases AND supporting balance across your whole body, inside and out.

✨ Next time you build a bowl, try this: instead of asking "is this healthy?", ask "how many colors am I eating today?" A full-spectrum plate is one of the simplest ways to nourish body, mind, and qi all at once.

When you come for a treatment and I do weird stuff.

Moxa (short for moxibustion) is a traditional Chinese medicine technique where dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is burned near or on the skin, usually close to specific acupuncture points. It comes in different forms β€” sticks, cones, or attached to acupuncture needles β€” and the practitioner holds it near the skin to warm the area without burning it.

Why it shows up in fertility treatment:

Encouraging fetal positioning: The most researched use is moxa on the acupoint "Bladder 67" (outer edge of the pinky toe) to help turn breech babies, typically done around 34 weeks.

Warming the uterus / improving blood flow: In TCM theory, moxa is used to add "warmth" to areas seen as cold or deficient, which practitioners believe supports blood flow to the uterus and ovaries β€” relevant for people trying to conceive or undergoing IVF.

Supporting ovulation and menstrual regularity: Some acupuncturists use moxa alongside acupuncture on points thought to regulate the menstrual cycle.

Post-embryo-transfer support: Some fertility acupuncturists use moxa in the two-week wait, based on the idea that "warming" the lower abdomen supports implantation.

If you would like to experience the world of Moxa get in touch and we can chat.

Confused and overwhelmed??

There’s so much health information out there right now, and honestly, it’s overwhelming. πŸ˜… One article says one thing, another says the complete opposite, and everyone online seems to have a strong opinion about what’s β€œright.”

Here’s what I’ve learned: information without context isn’t the same as guidance. A trusted practitioner doesn’t just hand you facts β€” they know your history, your goals, and what actually works for YOU. That relationship builds over time, and it’s worth so much more than another late-night scroll through conflicting advice.

If you’ve been feeling lost in all the noise, maybe it’s time to find someone you trust and stick with them. Consistency and a real relationship beat information overload every time. πŸ™Œ

Trying to conceive?

Here's a little nutrition + support tip 🌱🀰

Omega-3s and fertility: These healthy fats (found in salmon, sardines, walnuts, chia and flax seeds, or a quality fish oil supplement) do some real heavy lifting for reproductive health. They help regulate hormones, support egg quality, improve blood flow to the uterus, and may even help create a healthier environment for implantation. For partners trying to conceive too, omega-3s are linked to better s***m quality. Basically β€” your cells love these fats, and your reproductive system is no exception. 🐟πŸ₯œ

Where an acupuncturist comes in: Fertility isn't just about food β€” it's about the whole picture: stress, cycle regularity, hormone balance, and overall wellbeing. A skilled acupuncturist can support all of that. They can help regulate your cycle, reduce stress (which has a huge impact on hormones), improve blood flow to reproductive organs, and offer personalized guidance β€” including nutrition tips like the Omega-3 info above β€” tailored to where you are in your journey. Many people use acupuncture alongside natural conception efforts or fertility treatments like IUI/IVF as a complementary support.

πŸ’› If you're on a fertility journey, you don't have to figure it all out alone β€” a good acupuncturist can be a steady, knowledgeable guide along the way.

(Not medical advice β€” always chat with your doctor or fertility specialist about what's right for you!)
