Mai-Wel recently held our first bowling league at Dullboy's Rutherford, and what a hit it was! ๐ŸŽณ

Participants from right across Mai-Wel came together including from Social, Community and Creative Pathways in Maitland and Cessnock, Mai-Wel Academy, Mai-Wel Enterprises, Supported Independent Living and Community Living.

This was our very first week of the league, with everyone showing off their bowling skills, socialising and meeting new faces along the way.

"That was the best, and I can't wait for every Wednesday," Suzie, one of the attendees said.

We are looking forward to watching this league grow ๐Ÿ’›

This morning, our CEO John Cleary presented at the Business Singleton Breakfast, sharing why Mai-Wel is so deeply embedded in the Singleton community ๐ŸŒŸ

John spoke about the importance of providing genuine pathways between school and employment, using a wonderful example of a Mai-Wel Academy participant who progressed from our Academy program into Mini Woolies and is now building real workplace experience through that opportunity.

It was a great chance to connect with the Singleton business community and share more about the work we do across the region ๐Ÿ’›

Every pathway is built around the individual, their strengths, their interests, and where they want to go.

There is nothing better than heading out for your favourite drink and soaking up some fresh air ๐Ÿฅคโ˜€๏ธ

Brett, one of our Home and Living Pathways participants, recently did just that. With Mai-Wel by his side, Brett walked from home to his local grocery store, grabbed his favourite drink and made his way back feeling happy, independent and accomplished.

It might sound simple, but for Brett this outing means getting out into the community, moving his body and doing something he enjoys. This is all part of working on his NDIS goal of maintaining his health and wellbeing ๐Ÿ’ช

And honestly, who can blame him for treating himself ๐Ÿ˜„

Congratulations to Sam, who is celebrating more than 5 years as a maintenance and horticulture employee at East Cessnock Bowling Club! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŽ‰

Sam is a participant in our Inclusive Employment Australia program, and has recently been offered an additional day's work maintaining the club's grounds, a well-deserved recognition of the contribution he makes.

Sam is also looking to upskill by completing an RSA and RCG course, which he will put to great use in his employment.

With his friendly nature, good humour, and cheeky personality, Sam is a wonderful presence in his workplace.

Meet Sarah, a school canteen cook in Singleton and participant in our Inclusive Employment Australia program ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅฆ

Sarah creates weekly menus from fresh produce, packed with vegetables and fruit to give 360 students a healthy, balanced meal every day. She runs and operates the canteen with limited staff and volunteers, and yet the students regularly write thank you letters telling her just how much they love the food.

It is the kind of feedback that says everything.

"When you find something you love doing, it does not feel like work," Sarah said.

The rapport Sarah has built with the students is a true testament to her dedication, and we are so grateful to be part of her journey๐Ÿ’›

State of Origin Game 2 fever has hit Mai-Wel ๐Ÿ‰

The friendly rivalry is well and truly alive across our sites today. After our CEO State of Origin BBQ ahead of Game 1 a few weeks ago, NSW took home the win and now the stakes are feeling even higher this time around.

Take a look at some of the photos from the BBQ with friendly rivalry at its best! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Who do you think will take the win tonight? ๐Ÿ‘‡
