NCCRED, AIVL, CAHMA and Harm Reduction Victoria are running a study to better understand the experiences of people who’ve used benzodiazepines sources from dealers or online markets in the past 12 months. The study involves a short screening survey, with some people who complete screening invited to also complete a confidential 60–90-minute interview. Find out more here-

Sleeping pills like Temazepam or Stilnox are only recommended short term, as regular use can lead to worsening sleep, memory problems, and dependence. If you have sleep problems, ask your doctor about other ways to improve your sleep - like cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi). Deprescribing sleeping pills is often a key step to improving your sleep.

This study will inform the co-design of resources to support GPs in adopting a patient-centred approach to deprescribing these medications.
