❤️ Volunteering for Better Mental Health ❤️

Volunteering is a great way to support your mental health while making a positive impact in your community. It can help reduce stress, build social connections, increase confidence and create a sense of purpose. If you're interested in volunteering, contact the Peel Volunteer Resource Centre to get connected with opportunities that match your interests and skills.

This week we're sharing an important initiative from Kids Helpline ahead of Bullying No Way Week (17–21 August).

"When young people feel safe, supported and connected, they are better equipped to thrive, build resilience and reach their full potential." 💚

Bullying can have a significant impact on a young person's wellbeing, and having the right tools and support can make all the difference. Kids Helpline's anti-bullying lessons help students recognise bullying behaviours and learn practical strategies to respond positively and safely.

We encourage schools, educators, families and community members to support opportunities that empower young people and promote kindness, inclusion and respect.

Check out the post below for more information and registration details. 💜 🌟

Kids Helpline's largest anti-bullying lesson is now running one high school lesson, and two primary school lessons - one for grades 0-2 and one for grades 3-6!

This Bullying No Way Week (17-21 August) join us for this special live-stream event and help us reach as many students across Australia as possible.

Created by qualified Kids Helpline counsellors who support students experiencing bullying every day, this lesson gives students practical tools and strategies to respond in the moment.

Sign up today and empower your students with the tools they need to make a difference! To register and for more info: https://kidshelpline.info/4ng7Lkn

💙 Help Spread Warmth This Winter 💙

The wonderful team at Bendigo Bank Halls Head branch is proudly running a Warmth Collection to support people in our community who are doing it tough during the colder months.

They are collecting new:
🧤 Gloves
🧢 Beanies
🛏️ Blankets
🎒 Sleeping bags
🧥 Warm clothing
❤️ And any other items that can help keep someone warm

Donations can be dropped into the branch Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 4:00pm.

Every donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference.

We are doing a “warmth” collection this month in branch. If you would like to donate any new blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, beanies, warm clothes or anything else that can help keep a person warm, please drop it into the branch Monday to Friday 9:30-4pm. If you would like to donate but can’t make it to the branch during these times, please message and we will try to arrange a pick up. All donations will be passed on to WestAus Crisis & Welfare Service to distribute to those in need.

⭐️ A great project to be apart of and get involved ⭐️

"When nearly 1 in 2 Western Australians will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime, it means we all know someone who is struggling, whether we are aware or not."

If you were listening to Tod Johnstone on 6PR Perth earlier today, you may have heard our very own Sarah Wiley talking about a special initiative we are developing - the Yellow Bench project.

As WA's largest mental health service provider, supporting the community for over 50 years, we've seen how everyday people are impacted by mental health challenges, and we believe a stronger, healthier Western Australia is everyone's business.

We know that community connection is incredibly important for mental health - when people feel seen, heard and supported by those around them, their mental health improves while relationships grow stronger.

The Yellow Bench project will transform everyday spaces into places of connection, helping Western Australians find the courage to show up for one another.
