Internation Youth Day 2026: Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.

Today we celebrate the energy, creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people who are shaping a brighter future for our communities.

This year’s theme is “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations” and it reminds us that while young people come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, they share hopes for opportunity, belonging, well-being, and a brighter future. Together we can encourage, support and empower the next generation.

Some are unable to breastfeed despite wanting to.

We believe every parent deserves accurate information, compassionate care and support, no matter what your feeding journey looks like.

Breastfeeding Awareness Month!

Breastfeeding doesn’t always come naturally and that’s okay. While breastfeeding is natural, it is also a learned skill for both the parent and baby. Many women experience challenges such as:

• Painful attachment
• Concerns about milk supply
• Sleep deprivation
• Feeding difficulty
• Returning to work

If you are experiencing challenges, speak to your Child Health Nurse, Midwife or GP or a lactation consultant. Early support can make a significant difference. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

This weekend, challenge yourself to do something active you enjoy, your body and mind will thank you.

The cost of Birth trauma can look different for every woman.

It may include ongoing pain, emotional distress, difficulties returning to work, changes in relationships, as well as challenges adjusting to parenthood.

These impacts do not end when someone leaves the hospital, they can ripple through families and communities for years.

Healing begins with listening and with respectful, and informed care. Recognising the signs of birth trauma and seeking support early is also an important part of healing from birth trauma.

Allambee Women's Health offers FREE counselling to support women’s mental and emotional health.

Birth Trauma Awareness Week

This year’s theme is “The cost of Birth Trauma”, recognising that the impacts of a traumatic birth can extend far beyond the birth itself.

Birth trauma can be physical, psychological or both, affecting health, relationships, confidence and connection.

This week, we acknowledge the women and families carrying these experiences. Your experience is valid and you deserve to feel heard and supported.
