💙 National Carers Week | 12–18 October

This week, we recognise the millions of Australians who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends.

Carers often spend so much time looking after others that their own health can take a back seat.

If you’re a carer, remember to look after yourself too. Your health matters.

💙 Queensland Mental Health Week | 3–11 October

This year’s theme is Build Community, Build Wellbeing - a reminder that connection and feeling part of our community can play an important role in wellbeing.

Check in with someone. Make time for a conversation. Ask how they’re really going.

And if you’re finding things difficult, you don’t have to work through it alone.

Your GP can help you find the right support.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A good reminder to stay on top of your breast health and make time for your regular screening when you’re due.

BreastScreen Australia provides free mammograms every 2 years for women over 40, with women aged 50–74 actively invited to screen.

If you notice any changes or have questions about your breast health, speak with your GP.

☀️ When did you last check your skin?

Living in Queensland means sun protection and keeping an eye on your skin should be part of your regular health routine.

Take notice of any new spots or changes to existing moles and freckles, and if something doesn’t look or feel right, have it checked.

A simple question can make a real difference.

This R U OK? Day, take a moment to check in with the people around you. Ask how they’re going, make time to listen and keep the conversation going.

You don’t need to have all the answers , sometimes being there and listening is enough.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month 💙

It’s a good reminder for men to check in on their health and have a conversation with their GP about prostate cancer and their individual risk.

Early detection can make a difference. If you have concerns, a family history of prostate cancer, or you’re unsure about screening, speak with your GP.

🧠 Good health isn't just physical.

Taking time to rest, connect with others, and ask for help when you need it is just as important. Remember, you don't have to do it alone. 💙
