Nothing was going to stop Sammy from making the game. 🏉✨

Battling complications from Cystic Fibrosis, Sammy temporarily stepped away from John Hunter Hospital last Friday to watch her Sydney Roosters take on the Newcastle Knights right in her hometown.

Thanks to gifted tickets from the Roosters community team, she witnessed an epic win - including a 3-try performance by her favourite player, James Tedesco!

To top off an unforgettable night, Connor Watson spotted Sammy in the stands and ran over to hand-deliver his signed boots, fulfilling a promise he made when they first met.

This is what community is all about. Huge thanks to the Roosters for creating a memory Sammy will treasure forever. ❤️

Great food, great company, and a full dining room! 🎄✨

Today was our annual Christmas in July lunch for our staff and staying patients. 🎄✨
We were so glad to welcome the Bear Cottage team to join us in celebrating while they’re staying with us at AYAH during their facility renovations!

Everyone brought in their own signature dishes, and a huge thank you goes to Pradeep, Phil, and Peng for hosting us so warmly and cooking up an amazing spread of ham, chicken, and sides.

Sharing a meal and plenty of laughs with our patients, staff, and the Bear Cottage team made today truly memorable. Thank you to everyone who contributed! ❤️

A huge thank you to the team from Bushlink for all their hard work at AYAH! 🌿

The crew did a fantastic job tackling our overgrown bushes and shrubs, working with outstanding professionalism and enthusiasm. They even joined Chef Phil for lunch!

We highly recommend Bushlink’s services and look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

Big thanks to the Knitters and Natters of Watermark at Harbord Diggers! 🧶❤️

They recently dropped off an incredible delivery of handmade items for our patients -from cozy blankets, beanies, and scarves to sensory caterpillars, fidget gloves, and teddy bears.

By working closely with our team, they created items that don't just look great, but bring genuine comfort, focus, and joy to the young people in our care.

Thank you, Knitters and Natters! Your talent and generosity mean the absolute world to us.

🎄 A Festive Surprise ❤️

One of our patients recently used his communication device to share a special memory - the word "present."

He was remembering a gift he received during his last stay with us, which happened to fall during our Christmas in July celebrations.

To bring that exact magic back for him, our team threw a surprise Christmas-themed afternoon. Staff went all out dressing up in festive outfits, Therapy Dog Mason included, to hand-deliver special gifts donated by our wonderful community to patients. The entire room was filled with joy, festive vibes, and the sound of Christmas carols. Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces was the absolute best gift of all. 🌟

✨ A Night of Community Spirit ✨

The 2026 Bi-Annual Manly Hospice Gala, Hosted by James Griffin MP brought our community together to raise nearly $100,000 to support our young people and families! 💙

The true heart of the night was a moving fireside conversation between host James Griffin MP and Emma Laubi. Sharing with immense courage, Emma reflected on the exceptional care her late brother, Félix, received and the precious comfort her family found at AYAH.

We were honoured to have Guest of Honour, Her Excellency the Governor of NSW, Margaret Beazley AC KC, speak on our vital role in specialised respite, alongside key leaders Adjunct Professor Anthony Schembri AM, Renae McCarthy Acting General Manager, Mona Vale Hospital and AYAH, and Tayia Yeates, Services Manager, AYAH.

A massive thank you to everyone who powered this milestone milestone evening:

Matt & Grace Kossatz: $25k dedicated directly to our multisensory space.

Community Bank Freshwater: $10k matching a major auction bid.

The Dick Smith Foundation: $5k vital contribution.

Pam & Leon Hansen (Mounties Group): Anchored a collective room-raise for our areas of greatest need with a $2,500 donation, bringing the total raised for greatest need to $7,000.

Australian Hotels Association: $2k donation.

An additional ~$48,000 was raised through ticket sales and auction items that were generously donated for the night.

To everyone who bought a ticket, bid, or donated, and to our multidisciplinary staff and volunteers, thank you for supporting the AYAH. Because of you, we can continue supporting families when they need it most🏥✨

A triple j dream 🎙️⚡

We recently had the absolute privilege of facilitating an unforgettable experience for Patrick, an AYAH patient who has big dreams of becoming a radio presenter.

With a special connection from legendary ABC composer Peter Wall, Patrick got the ultimate backstage pass to the triple j studios. The incredible Emma, triple j’s Digital Manager, rolled out the red carpet and gave an exclusive tour of where the magic happens.

The epic highlights:
The Like A Version studio: Immersing himself in the exact space where music history is made.
The Drive Show: Joining Abby & Tyrone live on air.
The Rage Room: Checking out the powerhouse behind Australia's most iconic music video show.

Patrick brought pure passion and talent to the studios, and this experience has given him massive motivation to keep chasing his radio career. Watch this space 🔥

A huge thank you to Peter, Emma and the triple j team for making Patrick feel so welcome and inspired.

The AYAH team is ready to cheer on the Blues tonight for Game 2! 🟦💙

But the real match of the day already went down in the AYAH common area. A massive thank you to our wonderful NUM, CNE, and CNS for organising the official AYAH Origin Bake Off!

The team cooked up an incredible spread of sweets and treats representing their favourite team, but there could only be one champion. Huge congratulations to Olivia, who took out the ultimate crown with her delicious Guinness cake! 🏆🎂
Go the Blues! 💙

✨ The best day ever! ✨

We had the absolute joy of watching one of our patients, 28-year-old Sammy, experience the ultimate surprise. 🔴⚪️🔵

Sammy is a massive Sydney Roosters fan who grew up watching the games with her Grampy. Despite navigating severe, complex Cystic Fibrosis, her passion for the footy shines brighter than anything.

The incredible team at the Roosters gave Sammy a tour of their facility before the players came over one-by-one to spend time chatting with her. She left the stadium with a jersey signed by the squad and a personal pair of boots gifted straight from Angus Crichton!

While she missed meeting a few of her favourites who were away training at Origin camp, she’ll be cheering them on in tonight’s big game.

Sammy told us it was "the best day of her life." Seeing her smile like this is exactly why we do what we do at AYAH—creating powerful moments that matter.

We are so grateful to the Sydney Roosters and the entire NRL community, who continue to go above and beyond to support AYAH patients.

🎨 Art, connection and self-expression at the heart of care.

Young adults from the Adolescent & Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) in Manly have showcased their artwork at the Dexus North Shore Health Hub, following a four-week creative residency delivered with ART AID.

The exhibition brought together patients, families, staff and partners to share works created during the program - highlighting creativity as a meaningful part of connection and wellbeing.

“If I could create something I’ve put everything into, and show everyone what it is, that’s success to me.” – Patrick, artist

The pilot is helping shape future creative programs within AYAH and across healthcare settings.
