A thick smoke at the back of the nursing home woke us up this morning at 8am. The source was a Waste Management truck that went on fire. Thanks to our Maintenance and Kitchen Team for being great professional first responders before the Fire Brigade arrived. The situation is under control, and no damage was detected.

AN EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF PANI HELENKA
Pani Helena began losing her sight at just five years old as a result of events during the Second World War and became completely blind at the age of 20.
She went on to dedicate many years of her life to the education of blind and visually impaired people, teaching children Braille and how to use computers. Today, at 90, she continues discovering the world with the help of modern technology, including artificial intelligence.
She is also the author of the autobiographical book „Iskierki w mroku” (Sparks in the Darkness), sharing her remarkable experiences and journey through life without sight.

AUSTRALIAN DREAM CAME TRUE
One of Pani Helena’s greatest dreams was to visit Australia, experience the Sydney Opera House and meet a real koala. 🐨
After her story was shared on Damian Stefańczyk’s podcast, more than 100,000 PLN was raised in just two hours, helping make her journey to Australia a reality.

Our Holy Family Services asked the question on how to enjoy the last part of one's life. In her reply (original in Polish) reminds us to smile, enjoy everything in life and always be grateful.
