Last month, the R U OK? Day Van visited Margaret River, bringing free coffee, a sausage sizzle, and a chance for our community to slow down and connect. Alongside the team, local organisations including Headspace and 4 Families were there sharing information, resources and support, making it easier for people to know where to turn if they or someone they care about needs help.
Living in a regional community is something special. We look out for our neighbours, stop for a chat at the shops, wave as we drive past, and lend a hand when it's needed. Those everyday moments of connection matter more than we often realise.
R U OK? Day is a reminder that checking in doesn't need to be complicated.
First, check in with yourself. Ask yourself, 'How am I really doing?' If things don't feel quite right, remember that support is there for everyone, not just during difficult times.
Then, check in with someone else. Send a message. Pick up the phone. Grab a coffee together. Ask the question and take the time to listen.
A stronger community is built one conversation at a time. Thank you to everyone who helped bring the R U OK? Day Van to Margaret River and to the local services who continue showing up for our community every day.
π Because sometimes the simplest conversation can make the biggest difference.
