This cat. 🐈‍⬛

I’m genuinely astounded by the depth of love I have for him.

Goblin came into my life the way so many of my animals have… by divine design. I’ve always been an animal lover and I commit wholeheartedly to the little souls entrusted to me, so it’s no surprise he’s been welcomed into our family and that I’m determined to give him the best life possible.

What I didn’t expect was the way he would hold my heart.

When he first arrived, only 24hours before my Huni left, he quietly sat with my grief. He never tried to fix it. He just… stayed.

Now, in these darker, heavier days, he somehow always knows when I need him close. Before I even do.

I’ve never considered myself a cat person. I’ve certainly loved the occasional cat that earned my affection with a big personality, but I never imagined I’d become this attached.

I’m not sure I’m a cat person just yet…

…but I can definitely feel myself becoming a devoted Sphynx person.

And I can say with absolute certainty…

I’m a Goblin person. 🐈‍⬛🖤🐝

This speaks straight to my soul.

The words we choose matter. The language we use matters. Even the energy behind those words matters.

I’m certainly not perfect. Sometimes I speak before I’ve fully considered the impact of what I’m saying. But one of my lifelong commitments is to become more intentional with my words, ensuring they reflect the values I hope to live by.

And because I know I’ll never get it right every time, I’ve made another commitment too.

To pause.

To reflect without spiralling into overthinking.

To ask myself whether the language I chose truly represented the message, the moment, and the person I want to be.

Words have the power to build bridges or barriers.

I hope mine leave people feeling seen, safe, and understood. 🤍🐦‍🔥

He wandered inside and called out,
“Mum?… Mum…?”

I answered, “In here, mate. Come up.”

So here he is.

Just sitting.

Silent.
Stoic.
Consistent.

Comforting without needing words.
Strong without demanding attention.
Simply… available.

Sometimes the people who love us don’t try to fix anything.

They just show up.

Bless my heart. 🤍

TWENTY-EIGHT!!

From ONE cube-sized shelf beside my bed. 🤯📚

Some I’ve started.
Some I’ve always wanted to read.
Some I’ve bought because Future Ela was absolutely convinced she’d have endless spare time one day. 😂

As I piled them onto the bed I had one of those “what on earth am I doing?” moments.

Am I collecting books… or am I collecting all the versions of the woman I hope to become?

The organised one.
The calm one.
The emotionally evolved one.
The one who drinks hot coffee while reading in peace (🤣 let’s not get carried away).

Then it dawns on me…

These books aren’t yelling at me because I haven’t read them.

They’re just quietly saying,

“I’m here for you when you find the time… and the space.” 💛

That thought completely changed how I saw the pile.

I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately.
Not just by books, but by all the stuff.
The clutter.
The endless “I have to’s”.
The mental load of trying to keep up while also trying to become the person I know I’m capable of being.

Today I’ve decided I’m calling this my recalibration phase. 🏝️

Not giving up.
Not pretending the clutter will magically disappear.

Just accepting that right now I don’t need to become every future version of myself all at once.

I just need enough breathing room to enjoy one book… one quiet moment… one small step.

Turns out decluttering isn’t always about getting rid of things.

Sometimes it’s about making a little more room for yourself. 💛📚
