It’s Echidna breeding season and we’ve noticed this little fellow cross the road three times near our place.

We’ve contacted Sunshine Coast Council but there’s no funding for Echidna crossing signs.

I wonder if Australia Zoo or Wildlife HQ Zoo would help with a sign?

Any suggestions appreciated. 👊🏻👊🏻

Not what I’d planned to reveal today, the the band Powderfinger had a great song…These Days “turned out nothing like I had planned”…daily occurrence in our work place but something we have embraced.

Mick Wynn the man in the photo, a living legend. I was lucky enough to fit hearing aids to and consult with in the years before he passed.

We bonded in our shared daily suffering of PTSD. He was a Sergeant in the US Marines in the Vietnam War and won 3 Purple Hearts. He was one of the people that taught me mindfulness and helped me with gratitude. He was a kind, loving man.

The photo is pertinent. He was featured on the legendary band The Smiths most famous album cover. If you are too young to remember them do yourself a favour and listen to their songs…not for everyone but nothing is.

Anyway Mick was quoted as saying not long before he passed that the phrase on his helmet was a direct response to "Make Love Not War" signs seen in U.S. protests, reflecting the frustration of Marines in combat who felt they were just doing their job. This is playing out here in Australia with the Ben Roberts Case.

How can a country train very young men to kill then turn their backs on them when that’s what they do. In our country our soldiers are often called upon to protect our comforts.

His phrase was changed by The Smiths… maybe it was too controversial.

War is once again being repeated across the globe. No lessons learnt. As a human race we continue to make the same mistakes…war has a horrifying affect on those involved and their loved ones.

Anyway RIP to a great man, quiet in his old age but he showed me love…the one needful thing. Thanks bro, I’ll see you on the other side.

So 11 years ago we created our Urban Oasis on Aerodrome Road to attract the birds, bees and other native animals.

We love sitting on the deck and just relaxing and watching.

Most people take photos, make lovely comments etc but yesterday someone stole one of our freshly planted natives.

The person likely needed it more than we did so I won’t condemn them. The so called “working poor” is a reality in this country with many in need.

We will replant. Maybe a spiky one this time :)
