Scout 💛
We don’t always highlight the harder to handle patients, but we give them the same amount of care, attention and comfort as we can! Scout is a highly energetic but fearful Groodle who was in for her desexing recently.
Seeing how comfortable Scout was with her wonderful owner, her mum opted to help us out with holding and minding Scout while her sedation kicked in. After a quick vet check with Dr Elsa, Scout was given her sedation and began to relax and wind down in a dark room with Mum, where she would be most comfortable. Her owner then left Scout with Nurse Leah & Gemma to pop in her IV and draw blood from her cannula to avoid multiple needle pokes - and Scout was very well behaved for this. An extension line was placed in her IV, so no one had to get too close to Scout if she didn’t want them to, but she had already picked her comfort people. Her anaesthetic was induced by Nurse Leah for Dr Adam and the rest was over to the surgery team.
Scout recovered with Nurse Leah in a room of her own and avoided being placed in a cage, so no one was standing over her or intimidating her. She truly was a beautiful girl to have in and went from growling on admission to snuggling up and trusting us. Scout is seeing a trainer but we can already see how much progress she is going to make and couldn’t be prouder of her! 🌟 A big shout out to her awesome mum for the assistance and care in keeping us safe too! 🥹
