Sweet Mr Sumba 🧸

This beautiful boy was in with us a little while ago for his 2nd puppy vaccination & stole our hearts immediately! 🤎 We had to have a close inspection (cuddle) to figure out if Sumba was real or not, and it turns out he is just perfect?! Who would of guessed 🥹

Chipi 🍟

This majestic boy is 6 year old, Chipi, who was in recently for a dental procedure. Chipi had 7 teeth removed, including his 6 lower incisors (baby teeth at the front), and 1 premolar. 🦷

During the procedure a lesion was found at the back of Chipi’s mouth, which was biopsied and sent for histopathology to determine what cells were found, and if the lesion was potentially harmful. Thankfully, the results came back as a benign inflammatory lesion but we are always happy when an owner would rather play it safe 💛

Chipi has since come in for his recheck, where everything is healing as it should be, and he is still the sweetest, most adorable little man 🥹

ADOPTION 🤍

We have two kittens available for adoption! Both are the most playful little kitties, who are slowly warming up to human affection 🥹

The little girl was found trying to cross a busy road alone - she is a very spirited and independent little lady. And our little boy was dumped on our door step in a box, he adores wrestling with other cats and has the loudest purr! 🥺 Both will need a patient and loving home to put in the time and dedication needed for these little ones to continue growing into their personalities 🌻

Puppy season at MVH 👏🏼

Another day, another delicious little puppy - known as Daisy 🥹 Daisy is a 9 week old Chihuahua X, who visited recently for her 1st puppy vaccination & microchip implant.

These puppy vaccines are essential for preventing and safely training their immune system to recognise and fight off specific harmful viruses and bacteria without causing the actual disease.

Puppy/dog vaccines include:
🩺 Parvovirus
🩺 Hepatitis
🩺 Canine Distemper
🩺 Parainfluenza
🩺 Bordatella
Optional: Leptospirosis (currently on nationwide back-order)

Handsome Oscar 💛

One of our many regular cat boarders who is such a pleasure to have around. Oscar is always making buddies in boarding or snooping around for cuddles… and how could you say no?! 🥹😍

Down the miscroscope! 🔬

When we run cytology, which is the study of cells, we are taking a sample, prepping and staining the slides before examining and diagnosing, via the microscope. Whether it’s a ear swab, urine, faeces or blood sample, fine needle aspiration of lumps and bumps, skin scrapes, impression smears, vaginal swabs, and so much more, this study requires patience and a good eye! 👀

Some of the fun and not-so-fun samples we have looked at recently. Often the diagnosis means we can dispense the correct medication to treat what is seen. Other times it may mean scheduling surgery for a patient, or having a difficult conversation with an owner.

First slide: Lymphoma in a dog.
Second slide: Urinary Tract Infection in a cat. See if you can spot the little blue dots, which are rods of bacteria!
Third slide: Mast Cell Tumour in a cat.
Fourth slide: Struvile Crystals in a dogs urine.

Louie 🥹

This beautiful boy visited us for the first time recently to receive his 2nd puppy vaccination, with Dr Adam. Louie was such a brave and adorable little man, with his big ears & puppy eyes that melt your heart 🩵 He certainly made our Saturday Morning!

Winky Tilly 🌸 Slight Gruesome Warning

Dr James recently performed an enucleation surgery (removal of the eye) on little Tilly, due to anterior lens luxation and secondary glaucoma. Tilly had a very smooth anaesthetic and recovery, given she also suffers from feline bronchial asthma and only weighs 2.15kg at 10 years of age. She is tiny but mighty, and we are so happy to have been able to care for gorgeous little Tilly 🩷
