This week's portion has felt deeply personal.
As I sat with the readings, I couldn't help but notice that the issue wasn't that the spies were wrong. The giants were real. The cities really were fortified. The challenge before them truly was beyond their own ability.
What they saw wasn't inaccurate.
What they forgot was who was with them.
As I reflected on this portion, I found myself thinking about a prophetic word I recently received. In it, I felt God encouraging me to trust Him and remain the course in a situation that, if I'm honest, feels far bigger than me. A situation where the risks are real, the obstacles are obvious, and walking away would feel far easier than staying.
Although I knew God was speaking, I was looking for more confirmation. The weight of the situation felt too significant to simply move forward.
Then, just hours later, I found myself writing this reflection.
How very God.
As I read through Shelach, I was reminded that God never asked Israel to ignore the giants. He asked them to trust Him in the presence of them.
And perhaps that's the invitation for us as well.
So often we stand between God's promise and our present reality, staring at a gap we cannot bridge in our own strength. We want certainty, a plan, and reassurance that we can handle what lies ahead. Yet it is often within that very gap that God chooses to reveal His faithfulness.
If we could do it ourselves, there would be little need for faith, trust, or HIM.
If the outcome depended entirely on us, there would be no room for God to move.
The miracle was never that there were no giants. The miracle was that God was greater than them.
Is there an area of your life where God is asking you to trust Him beyond what feels reasonable, comfortable, or even possible?
This week, instead of focusing on the size of the obstacle before you, focus on the faithfulness of the One who has called you forward.
The gap may be real.
But perhaps that is exactly where God intends to meet you.
Shabbat Shalom 🫶
