Beyond milestones, we look at the developmental skills that help a child get there.
Balance, coordination, postural control, body awareness, motor planning, attention and confidence all contribute to how a child moves, plays, learns and takes part in everyday life.
Our role as OTs is to understand where a child is at, identify the foundations that may need support, and use engaging activities to help build those skills over time.
Milestones are important, but so is the pathway towards them.
The goal isn’t to rush development. It’s to give each child the support, opportunities and foundations they need to keep progressing in a way that is right for them.
