The NHAA was incorporated in 1920 and is the oldest complementary medicine association in Australia. The NHAA has a long record of working behind the scenes for the interests of herbal medicine. At the "big picture" level, protecting and advancing the profession is important for the entire country and allows the public greater access to a viable and effective treatment option. This creates greater

demand for the high standard of health care service provided by our practicing members. This work requires constant vigilance and long hours of effort by the Board of Directors. Involvement in various committees and discussion groups, and production of submission papers and media releases are among the many activities of the Board. We have an engaged and passionate membership base, with three active local chapters in Melbourne (), Sydney () and Qld ().

NHAA was out and about at 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲'𝘀 The Incretin Revolution: Natural Medicine's Role in Forging Tomorrow’s Healthcare Symposium.

The day brought together practitioners and researchers to explore the rapidly evolving understanding of GLP-1, GIP and related incretin pathways, including emerging research beyond their more widely known roles in diabetes and weight management.

It was a great opportunity to hear some of the latest thinking in this area, catch up with colleagues from across the profession and be part of the broader conversations taking place in natural and integrative healthcare.

Researchers at the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲 are seeking dual-trained healthcare practitioners to participate in an Honours research project exploring how dual training shapes 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗖𝗜𝗠.

The research is particularly interested in how practitioners communicate TCIM practices and research in ways that are engaging and accessible to people without a complementary medicine background.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻: 🌿 A TCIM profession, such as naturopathy, herbal medicine or acupuncture; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 🩺 A mainstream healthcare profession, such as medicine, nursing or another regulated health profession.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱? Participation includes a brief online consent and demographic form, followed by a 𝟯𝟬–𝟲𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄.

As part of the conference program, 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 discussing "𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬" sharing NHAA's experiences alongside fellow association professionals from across Australia.

One of the greatest benefits of attending events like these is the opportunity to learn from other associations. Every organisation brings different ideas, experiences and approaches to member engagement, governance, events and communications. Sharing those insights helps associations continue to grow, evolve and better support the members and communities they serve.

For NHAA, these opportunities are about more than attending a conference—they're about listening, learning and bringing back practical ideas that can strengthen the value we deliver to our members and the profession.
