GUEST SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT BRIS 7th Oct - Welcome . We are so excited to have you on the panel.⁣

In her twenties, Alexis achieved what many can only dream of – ownership of a thriving multi-million dollar business. However, the success of such magnitude came at a price. Her relentless pursuit of excellence led to burnout and personal struggles with addiction in her thirties. But it was in her forties that Alexis rewrote the narrative of her life.⁣

Today, Alexis resides on the breathtaking beaches of Australia. She uncovered her true strength – empowering women to break free from their limitations and rediscover their unshakable confidence. She's not about sugarcoating; she's about helping others live their best, unapologetic lives.⁣

My relationship to alcohol had the biggest impact on my life...

About 6 years ago while still owning my restaurant West Bridge I had decided to take a night off from drinking. I can see this day like it was yesterday. Something inside of me shifted.

When night time fell. Like I did every evening for 12+ years I had a drink. Which turned into many more as it always did. I was devastated in the morning that I could not take even one night off from drinking.

It was in this moment I realised I had not taken a night off from drinking for over 10 years. So on this same day I picked up the phone and asked for help. I knew I couldn’t do this alone.

I had professional help for about 8 months straight where we met 2-3 times a week. From the very beginning of my journey into sobriety I said I wanted to some day drink again.

I love the aroma from wine. The stories behind the wine makers. Pairing it with food. I wanted to be able to keep that part alive.

So what I realised for ME.
(And that is key in sharing this part of my story. I recognise fully this would not work for everyone. This is my journey)

I had to change my relationship to alcohol. I had to understand the why behind my drinking. What triggers me. Who triggers me. And I had to spend a lot of time not drinking. Which is still most days now.

This will be forever apart of my DNA. Finding balance with alcohol will always be something I have to keep checking in on. As that’s the only way it works for me.

And with the support of my husband who always checks in on me, my Best friend back home who is always cheering me on and a daily practice I can finally say 6 years later that my relationship to alcohol has changed. But it was hard work.

But just like my meditation it is all a practice for me that I have to show up to every day. To create the best possible life for myself.

I truly believe when we understand the WHY behind what we do good or bad. When we give ourselves permission to see and feel it all that anything is possible life. 🤍

As many of us head back into work it’s so important to recognise that this to is a time of a transition.

So here are 2 more Mini-Mindful Work 🖇Tips to help you on your way...

👂🏽Listen Generously
Notice wanting to give your opinion, advice, or a solution and just listen. Check in with your intention too. Is it to hear, or be heard? Be more curious and ask more questions.

👀 Take Regular Breaks
Stop regularly and look up from your desk. Feel your feet on the floor. Take regular breaks and go outside. Connecting with your physical senses reminds you that you’re not just a walking head.

Give yourself the time and space. You deserve it. Thank you for the reminder.

Does it seem strange to you that quite often I take cues from my dog, Mr. Axl...

Let’s think about this for a minute. Hear me out.
Axl does the following and quite often numerous times throughout the day. Just think, if we took some inspiration from these actions what our days would look like?!

🛌 Naps. I don’t think any elaboration is needed on that front.

🙆🏽Stretches. Oh man does it look so good and therapeutic when he goes into downward dog.

💧 Drinks a s**t ton of water. I definitely always need that reminder.

🌬 Breathes. Literally these epic inhale and exhales out of no where. Often. Which every time cues both me and my husband to take a big breath in and out.

🌊 Body awareness. When he’s hot he finds water. And with out hesitation he jumps right in. He doesn’t have a 20 minute conversation with self.

Do you have a 🐈 pet 🐶 or maybe something else that cues you to stop?

Ever think about meditating and celebrating?

What if you sat for a meditation and instead of doing what we did so often working with our breath. Exploring anchors of your body. All which are amazing tools. But this time You celebrate!!!

The small victories of your day/week/ month/ year?

Something you accomplished at work or at home. Maybe something new that you tried. A fear you got over. A difficult conversation you had. A new physical activity!

How did it make you feel?
What shows up for you when you give yourself permission to celebrate all of life’s victories?!

Let’s celebrate 🎉
