Meet Wendy

I am Wendy, founder of HAPpy Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy and Mawson House Studio.
For most of my life I’ve been drawn to people and their stories. My journey has taken me through many different roles — from working alongside people experiencing addiction and recovery in rehabilitation, supporting people through crisis care and su***de awareness with Lifeline, youth work, running girls groups, facilitating women’s circles, community basketball and coaching, and later owning my café for over 10 years.
Each of these experiences has shaped the way I see people. They have taught me the importance of connection, compassion and creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be themselves.
Over the years I’ve come to understand that many of us carry experiences in our bodies long after our minds have tried to move on. We develop patterns and ways of protecting ourselves that once helped us, but sometimes no longer serve us.
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, my work is about helping people explore these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement, creating a space where they can better understand themselves and reconnect with who they are.
My approach draws on a range of evidence-informed practices including person-centred counselling, coherence therapy, nervous system regulation, attachment theory and schema-informed practice. Every person is unique, and every session is tailored to the individual sitting in front of me.
I also believe wellbeing is not just about the mind. Sometimes reconnecting with ourselves happens through stillness, awareness, breath, mindfulness and learning to listen to what our body has been communicating. This is why guided hypnosis, mindfulness and the drum have become part of my work — supporting people to move beyond living only in their thoughts and reconnect more deeply with themselves.
Mawson House Studio grew from this same belief — creating a welcoming space where practitioners can begin or grow their own practice without the isolation and pressure that can come with starting out, while offering the community access to different pathways for wellbeing, connection and personal growth.
I feel incredibly grateful to be creating this space and sharing it with other passionate practitioners who believe in supporting people through connection, compassion and meaningful change.
Welcome to Mawson House Studio

The Vision of Mawson House Studio

People have been asking what Mawson House Studio will become.

Mawson House Studio is being created from an understanding of how challenging it can be to build a practice on your own.

Starting a business often comes with significant barriers.
Rising overheads, financial pressure, long-term commitments, and the isolation that can come from trying to grow something without a supportive professional community.

Many talented practitioners have the skills, passion, and desire to make a real difference, yet the pathway to establishing their own practice can feel out of reach.

Before you've even seen your first client, much of your income is already committed to the costs of running a business.
As a business owner myself, I understand those challenges. I know what it's like to build something from the ground up, to carry the financial responsibility, wear every hat, and navigate the journey largely on your own.

Mawson House Studio was born from the belief that there is a better way.
Our vision is to remove as many of those barriers as possible by creating a flexible, supportive environment where practitioners can grow at their own pace, without the pressure of overwhelming overheads or long-term commitments before they're ready.

This isn't simply about hiring a room.
It's about creating a professional community where practitioners can focus on what they do best, supporting others.

A place where knowledge can be shared, encouragement given and collaboration is welcomed, success can be celebrated together.

Healing doesn't belong to one profession or one modality.
It happens when people feel safe, seen, and supported.

The vision is to bring together practitioners who honour the whole person, body, mind, soul and nervous system—creating a community where different approaches work alongside one another rather than in competition.

Because when we support the people who support others, the whole community benefits.

This is about creating opportunity, connection, and a place where practitioners and the people they care for can thrive together.

If this vision resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you.

It's amazing how different a space can feel before a single coat of paint has gone on.

Over the past few weeks we've seen walls go up, rooms begin to take shape, and the vision slowly become a reality.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped to ask questions, sent messages of encouragement, or simply followed along on this journey.

Your support means more than you know.

We're getting closer.

It may not look like much right now!

As the renovations continue, so too does the vision for
Mawson House Studio.
Each day, another layer is peeled back.
The old kitchen tiles have been stripped away, appliances removed, and the space is slowly being transformed.

It's hard not to reflect on the journey of the building itself.

Once, this kitchen nourished the body through food. Soon, this space will help nourish the body, mind and soul through connection, learning, healing and wellbeing.

The vision is to create a welcoming hub where practitioners from a range of complementary modalities can come together under one roof. A place that encourages collaboration, supports wellbeing, and creates opportunities for our community to reconnect with themselves and one another.

Like the renovation itself, transformation often begins by removing what no longer serves us and creating space for something new to emerge.

If you're a practitioner looking for a welcoming space to see clients or facilitate groups, I'd love to hear from you.

And to our community… what classes, workshops or wellbeing services would you love to see offered at Mawson House Studio?

You may have noticed as you've driven past that the old café sign has come down and a new Mawson House Studio sign now stands in its place.
Behind the closed blinds, a quiet transformation has been taking place.
For the past few months, this iconic building has been undergoing a transformation.

While it's looked quiet from the outside, there's been plenty happening both inside and out.

As each room has been cleared, we've reflected with gratitude on the many years this building served as a café, a place where people gathered to connect over a cuppa, share stories, celebrate milestones and create memories. Those moments will always be etched in the walls of this building's story.

It seemed only fitting that my son’s helped take down one sign and put up the next, a simple but meaningful moment, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Now, this familiar space is slowly becoming and evolving into Mawson House Studio—a place to Reflect, Heal & Restore.

If you've been along for the ride since the beginning, you'll remember the little space that was created many years ago across the road.
In many ways, it feels as though life has come full circle, returning to the roots of what I began all those years ago.
Over the coming weeks, I'd love to take you behind the scenes and share the journey—from demolition and renovations to the finishing touches—as this vision comes to life.
There's still plenty to do, but I can't wait to show you what's taking shape and, before long, welcome you through the doors.
