The Intl Soc of Dermhosts a quadrennial congress called ICD; the next ICD2021 will be the world’s first virtual ‘dermathon’ running 24hours a day from Nov 10-13th, with 300+ of the world’s best dermatologists.

The AGM of the Australasian Blistering Diseases Foundation took place today in Sydney with our fellow Dr Emily Sisson introducing the 3 speakers, Dr Rhea Ahuja, on her study with Prof Vishal Gupta at AIMS New Delhi on predictotrs of flares in pemphigus; Mr Henry Tseng, MD PhD student at UNSW, on his research projects on triggers of AIBD and Ms Cindy Taw, UNSW honours med student on her QOL in blistering diseases project. The aBDF supported many honours research projects in blistering diseases this past year and presentations by these students and fellows. At least 10 papers were published last year. The ABDF depends on donations and fundraisers we hold yo complete these clinically relevant projects. Thank you to Sun Pharma for sponsoring lunch.

Since the second World Congress of Rare Skin Diseases was held in Paris in 2024 a group of experts interested in Darier Disease has been collaborating on a number of consensus projects. This one, led by Cristina Has, based in Germany, has just been published open access in Dermatology and Therapy. Professor Dedee Murrell is one of the coauthor experts. president recently volunteered giving talks at the RDTC in Moshi, Tanzania and at the 5th African Society of Dermatovenereology in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, about repurposing existing cheaper therapies for epidermolysis bullosa. She funded the travel herself to volunteer teaching. The ABDF Foundation supported some of the students’ research and open access fees for the publications arising from it so people can access that.
