GET MOVING & KEEP ACTIVE EVERYBODY!

The Olympics are finally here and there is no better reason to get moving and keep active!

Regular physical activity and/or exercise can take many different forms. It can be fun, engaging, interesting and invigorating for the whole body.

Some of the many benefits of regular exercise are:
β€’ Increased longevity
β€’ Decreased anxiety and depression
β€’ Improved cognitive function
β€’ Increased feelings of well-being
β€’ Improvement in heart and lung function
β€’ Reduction in cardiovascular disease
β€’ Enhanced performance at work, school, recreational and sporting activities
β€’ Higher physical function and independent living in older individuals

As we all know, exercise does not need to be organised or confined to the gym. It can include things like going for a 20-30-minute walk during your lunch break or after work, parking your car a little further away from the shops, taking the stairs, playing with your kids or dog, kick-kick, throwing a few hoops, dancing to your favourite music, walking or jogging with a friend, gardening, chopping firewood, doing some yoga or Pilates, etc… the list goes on and on.

Achieving more physical activity in your day (and life) is really not as hard as one may think. Be creative, make a start, gradually build on that effort and watch it become a thing of habit.

P.S. involving your pet or child in your attempt at some exercise can be quite enjoyable too!

Flip enjoys coaching. Lola likes doing sit-ups with Irene. 😊
