Eczema is a reflection of what’s happening internally within the body, not just something happening on the surface of the skin.
Common underlying drivers can include:
• Gut dysbiosis & intestinal permeability
• Histamine intolerance
• High cortisol & nervous system dysregulation
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Congested lymphatic system
• Immune dysregulation & inflammation
• Poor circulation and detoxification
Steroid creams are often used to provide short-term relief by suppressing inflammation, but over time the skin becomes increasingly dependent on them to keep symptoms under control. For some people, this may lead to a cycle where stronger or more frequent steroid use is needed while the root causes remain unaddressed.
When steroids are reduced or stopped, the skin can rebound with intense redness, burning, flaking, inflammation, and hypersensitivity, often referred to as topical steroid withdrawal (TSW).
This can be incredibly physically and emotionally challenging.
This is why my approach focuses on supporting the body from within through gut health, nervous system regulation, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, nutrition, and skin barrier repair to help calm inflammation long term.
