CHSP (Commonwealth Home Support Program) continues now till 2029 which is a blessing to support older Australians living at home. Many councils have closed down their CHSP programs believing they would soon be swallowed up by the federal Support at Home Program, but the transfer has been pushed out again till 2029. A good decsion to ensure care is delivered for older Australians waiting up to 12 months to be allocated a package once they have been approved.

Anne Ruston has recognised the sector's advocacy in the decision to maintain CHSP as a standalone program while attributing the ‘failure of Support at Home’ to the government.

Great to see representation for First Nations population

The government has introduced legislation to establish a permanent First Nations aged care commissioner role, which will directly connect an independent First Nations voice to the quality and safety commission.

A wonderful farewell at Pt Leo today for my x brother in law. A great turnout. Here his 3 oldest children are heading out with a couple of the great life savers at Pt Leo Surf Club to place a wreath in the sea which was stuffed with messages for Peter. My nieces and nephew organised a remarkable farewell for their dad. Well done. X

Great news for Australians with a dementia diagnosis to stay at home longer in the Mornington Peninsula and Casey areas.

A dementia diagnosis doesn’t mean you must give up your life and independence. In fact, many older people with dementia live a full and happy life being supported at home outside of residential care – a preference of the majority of our ageing population.
