49g protein from a bowl of pasta. 🍝

Because high-protein meals do not need to be complicated, boring or built around dry chicken.

This was just:
🍝lean beef mince
🍝high-protein spaghetti
🍝passata
🍝carrot
🍝peas

Nothing fancy, but it works because the meal has structure.

👌Protein from the mince.
👌Carbs from the pasta.
👌Fibre and volume from the veg.
👌Flavour from the sauce.

And yes, pasta can absolutely fit if fat loss is your goal. This is no “cheat meal”.

On this, the issue usually isn’t the pasta.

It’s when the meal is mostly pasta, a little sauce and barely any protein, then you’re hungry again an hour later.

A few simple ways to make pasta more supportive:
✔️Add a proper protein serve.
✔️Use lean mince, chicken, tuna or prawns.
✔️Try high-protein pasta if you like it.
✔️Add veggies into the sauce.
✔️Keep the portion satisfying, not tiny.

This is the kind of meal that helps consistency feel easier.

Save this for your next easy dinner idea.

A little reminder to get your vitamin C in. 🍊🥝 🥦🫐

Not because vitamin C is some magic immune shield, but because it does play an important role in immune function, collagen production, wound healing and helping your body absorb iron from plant-based foods.

And because your body doesn’t make or store vitamin C, you need to get it regularly through food.

The good news?

It’s not just oranges!

Some of the best sources include kiwi, capsicum, strawberries, broccoli, guava, blackcurrants, parsley, kale and even Brussels sprouts.

This is especially worth paying attention to if you:
🍊feel like your immune system takes a hit every winter
🍊struggle with low iron
🍊don’t eat much fruit or veg
🍊are under a lot of stress
🍊or tend to wait until you feel run down before caring about micronutrients

You don’t need to overcomplicate it.

🫐Add berries to yoghurt.
🫑Throw capsicum into a wrap.
🥦Add broccoli or kale to dinner.
🥝Have kiwi with breakfast.
🍋Squeeze lemon over meals.
👌Pair vitamin C-rich foods with iron-rich meals.

Small things, done consistently, are where the support comes from.

Save this for your next grocery shop.

Don’t want to track your food forever?

You don’t have to.

Tracking can be useful when you’re trying to understand your intake, work toward a goal or learn what’s actually in your meals.

But the goal isn’t to live inside MyFitnessPal forever.

The goal is to build enough awareness that you know how to put a meal together without second-guessing everything.

A balanced plate is one simple way to do that.

Start with:
½ plate non-starchy veggies
¼ plate protein
¼ plate carbs, wholegrains or starchy veg
a small amount of fats

It’s not perfect.
It won’t replace tracking if you need more accuracy.
But it gives you structure when you want to eat well without overthinking every gram.

That’s the point.

Not all or nothing.

Just enough structure to make better choices more often. Swipe across for examples.

Save this for the days you want to keep food simple.

I do this every month to help regulate my body.

I time my acupuncture appointments with just before or during my cycle.

Once I made that connection, I stopped treating it as optional and it’s now scheduled within my routine.

Why? Because personally, I notice less period pain and a better overall cycle experience when I’m consistent with it.

In my visit this weekend, I was told I'm yin deficient. In Chinese medicine yin represents rest, restoration and stillness. When you're depleted of it you run on overstimulation… always doing, never really switching off.

Admittedly, I am guilty of this.

I know a lot of people get nervous about needles, but acupuncture is a lot gentler than people expect.

Fine needles are placed at specific points on the body, traditionally understood as energy pathways called meridians. From a Western perspective, acupuncture may stimulate the nervous system, support circulation and encourage the body’s natural regulation processes.

For women, acupuncture is often used to support things like:

🤍cycle symptoms
🤍period pain and cramping
🤍sleep quality
🤍stress and fatigue
🤍that wired but tired feeling so many of us accept as normal

The research on acupuncture for menstrual health is promising, although it’s not a magic fix and everyone responds differently.

Some research suggests acupuncture may influence the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which is involved in hormone signalling and cycle regulation. This is one reason why timing it around your cycle can be worth exploring with a qualified practitioner.

My focus right now coming out of this session is slowing down.

Less stimulation in the evenings.
More intentional rest.
Putting my phone down…

We’ve heard it before: your body keeps score.

Mine has been asking me to ease up for a while and it does get to a point where not listening is doing more harm than good.

🤷‍♀️Anyone else use acupuncture for cycle or hormonal support? Tell me below, I would love to know your experience.

Finally made it to Rocco’s Bologna!

The meatball sub had been on my radar for a while and even though I don’t usually tolerate pork that well, but I was not going there and ordering around the thing I actually wanted.

The Rocco’s Original Meatball Sub is made with pork and beef polpette, sugo, salsa verde, aged Parmigiano and white sauce.

The flavour combo was spot on and I can see why it’s one of their signature items.

My friend had the tiger prawn spaghetti, and we also shared the cacio e pepe crocchetta and shoestring fries.

The crocchetta was nice, but not the thing I’d be thinking about later.

The sub was. 😉

Would I go back? Yes!

I was eyeing off some of the other dishes coming out and definitely want to try the Roman focaccia with hot honey and smoked salt and the tiramisu looked so good too!
