What would you do if you were told you had ostepenia or osteoporosis?

For Jane, it became a turning point in how she approached exercise, strength and her confidence in what her body could do.

Tomorrow, Jane joins Michael on The Confident Body Show to share her experience, what changed in her training, and what she’s learned along the way.

Episode 53 goes live tomorrow. 🎙️

If you’ve been told you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, the idea of lifting heavier weights can feel a little scary.

You might be thinking, “What if I hurt myself?” or “Surely I should be doing something gentler?”

But avoiding strength training altogether isn’t the answer.

We understand traditional gyms can feel pretty intimidating, especially when you’re worried about doing the wrong thing...

That’s where clinical Pilates and progressive strength training can be a great place to begin. We tailor it to your body, your goals and where you’re starting from, and with the right guidance, we’ve seen some of our clients not only get stronger, but improve their bone density too.

Today, we’re celebrating Jane’s progress! ❤️

Jane has been part of the MD Health community for years.

She originally joined to get stronger, improve her core strength and work on her posture. Over time, her focus changed when her osteopenia progressed to osteoporosis.

With the support of her team, her training was gradually progressed to include heavier strength and impact work. And at 75, Jane has seen her bone density improve.

But one of the things we love most about Jane’s story is that this has become part of her routine. Three sessions a week, walking, staying active and continuing to do the things she enjoys.

And she’s made a few friends along the way, too. ❤️

Stay tuned this week as Jane sits down with Michael on the Confident Body Show to share her osteoporosis journey, what changed in her training, and what helped her feel more confident and stronger along the way.

One thing people often don’t realise about osteoporosis: doing more exercise isn’t necessarily the answer. Doing the right kind of exercise is.

If you’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis, you might be walking regularly, stretching or doing regular Pilates and still wonder why your bone density isn’t improving.

That’s because different types of exercise do different jobs.

Clinical Pilates can help you build balance, movement control and confidence, while progressive strength training gives your bones a greater loading stimulus. The two can work really well together.

At MD Health, we look at where you’re starting from first, then build and progress your program around your strength, balance, movement and goals.

If you’ve recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis and aren’t sure where to start, that’s something we can help with.

Living with ongoing back pain doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the things you enjoy.

For this client, staying active, travelling and getting on with everyday life has been possible with the right support over the years.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of their journey. ❤️

If pain is starting to affect the way you live your life, you don’t have to just put up with it.

Could your feet be playing a role in your knee, hip or back pain?

In this episode, Michael sits down with podiatrist Dr Abbie Najjarine to explore how foot biomechanics can influence the way we move, why pain isn’t always coming from where you feel it, and how understanding the underlying mechanics can help guide treatment and in some cases, even stop you from having surgery.

They also discuss pronation, orthotics, footwear and why a thorough assessment matters.

Knee replacement surgery is a big step, but getting back to doing the things you love takes more than just a new joint.

For many of the over-50s we see at MD Health, the goal isn’t simply to recover from surgery. It’s to get back to the things they enjoy, whether that’s walking, gardening, golf, travelling or keeping up with the grandkids.

That’s why we focus on preparing you for surgery and progressively rebuilding your strength, fitness and confidence throughout recovery.

Preparing for a knee replacement? Get in touch with our team to find out how our Surgery Ready Program can help you build strength before surgery and support your recovery afterwards.
