After more than a decade of global consultation, PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

The shift is about more than terminology.
For many women, the name “polycystic o***y syndrome” never reflected the reality of what they were experiencing. Many didn’t have ovarian cysts at all, while dealing with symptoms affecting hormones, metabolism, skin, mental health, fertility, energy and more.

Language shapes healthcare.
What gets recognised.
What gets dismissed.
What gets treated seriously.

Experts hope the new name will help create better understanding, earlier diagnosis and more holistic care for the millions of women living with this condition.

A reminder that women’s health has always been more complex than the labels it’s been given.

Serotonin is one of the brain’s key “steady-mood” and emotional-regulation chemicals.



Oestrogen helps support how serotonin is made, released, and used in the brain.


So when oestrogen fluctuates, serotonin can fluctuate too, and that can affect:
