In a world full of noise, I find something beautiful in these soft electrical whispers, the ones that remind us that connection itself can be a language.
Soft electrical whispers, translated into notes, turning something invisible into something we can hear - a shifting melody, a softer note, a new rhythm emerging through connection.
Communication isn’t always a voice. Sometimes it’s felt. Sometimes it’s a subtle response, a quiet acknowledgment that one living thing has encountered another.
Plants can generate electrical signals in response to touch, pressure, temperature changes or movement. Even a small change in the measured electrical activity can be translated into different pitches, rhythms or timbres through a Plant Music devise.
On Sunday, as we stood around this remnant river red gum, we felt it. As each human being, made physical contact with the tree being, we felt its subtle response together. For me, the sensation was of waves like a rhythmic pulse, through my body.
This sharing is called “collective effervescence”. When a group shares a moment of intense amazement, wonder or excitement, it is commonly referred to as collective effervescence. Coined by sociologist Émile Durkheim, it describes the sense of energy & community people feel when they gather together & experience the same emotion simultaneously. Sharing a moment of awe allows people to break free from their thoughts and attune to those around them.
This is the life ✨
