Far-UVC is a promising engineering control for reducing airborne transmission of tuberculosis. Conventional germicidal UV is already recognised by WHO as an environmental control for TB. 222 nm Far-UVC is already showing substantial effectiveness at preventing the spread of common infectious viruses and bacteria in hospitals.

A recent study conducted at Karolinska Hospital (Sweden) in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology demonstrated a greater than 90% reduction in staff absenteeism in areas utilising Far UVC germicidal lighting. This succinctly shows Far-UVC's efficacy against pathogens that are hardier than TB.

Since Far-UVC operates continuously in spaces where people are present, it provides an additional layer of protection from invisible enemies, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
