If your Instagram feed looks like a constant mix of information relating to pregnancy and birth. I can imagine it can feel really overwhelming to have so many voices on your feed, sharing lots of different perspectives of such a huge event in your life.

So if you ever need to just absorb information from a source that feels a little more grounded, rooted in facts and research and that doesn’t feel overwhelming, I highly recommend giving these resources a go.

Not only are they evidence based sources but they are also produced by passionate midwives who I feel truly understand the nuances medical institutions sometimes miss.

I recommended the Midwives Cauldron to a friend the other day who was looking for a resource that felt a little more Evidence-based, woman-centred, refreshingly honest and grounded in real clinical experience.

If you give any of these resources a go, let me know. In the mean time, good luck with your pregnancy and birth. My name is Jubi, I’m a midwife, birth coach and storyteller.

Feel free to make yourself a part of my community. ♥️

Just a quick introduction to my friends here. Most of you I have been here since I moved to Aus, and I’ve been so lucky to spend the last 2.5 years creating new experiences in a new country.

In the last 2.5 years in Aus a I’ve been able to deepen the ways in which I can support mums and families as a midwife.

Being here has challenged me to grow in my career and become a better advocate and practitioner.

They say the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, it’s green where you water it, and I’ve done my very best to make the most of this opportunity to enhance my skills as a midwife.

My hope is to share everything I’ve learned with the purpose of helping other moms feel empowered for their birth experience.

With knowledge that has been founded on years of dedication to this wonderful career.

With love,
Jubi

Hi, I’m Jubi. 👋🏾

I’m a registered midwife, certified hypnobirthing practitioner, and birth educator with 8 years of experience supporting women through pregnancy and birth across Ireland and Australia.

My passion is helping women feel calm, informed, grounded and confident as they prepare for birth. Not because birth always goes to plan, but because you deserve to understand your options, trust yourself, and feel like an active participant in your own care.

I believe in evidence-based information, informed consent, woman-centred care, and creating space for you to make decisions that feel right for you. I also believe birth preparation is about more than just learning what happens during labour. It’s about supporting your nervous system, building confidence, and helping you step into birth feeling connected to yourself.

If that sounds like the kind of preparation you’re looking for, I’d love to have you join my next 2-hour live Hypnobirthing Masterclass.

You can book your place via the link in my bio. 🤍

All jokes aside, it can be really tough for birth partners to watch someone they care about go through such an intense experience and feel completely helpless. So here are practical ways to prepare and support on the day.

Being a good birth partner means understanding what she may need before labour begins, so she doesn’t have to carry the mental load while also giving birth.

Practical support

✨ Know what’s in the hospital bag and where to find it
✨ Check the route and parking in advance
✨ Time contractions, without making them the focus
✨ Learn massage and counter-pressure techniques
✨ Help her change clothes and move positions
✨ Remind her to empty her bladder every couple of hours (a full bladder can be uncomfortable and may slow baby’s descent)
✨ Offer water, snacks and ice regularly
✨ Set up the birth space with dim lighting and familiar comforts
✨ Take charge of the birth playlist 🎶
✨ Put the phone away and give full attention

Advocacy & communication

✨ Understand her birth preferences and help protect them
✨ Advocate for her without speaking over her
✨ Pay attention to her cues and respond appropriately (silence, touch, encouragement or space)

Physical & emotional support

✨ Provide hands-on support (holding her up, back pressure, hair support if she vomits)
✨ Offer calm, specific reassurance: “You’re safe. You’re doing so well. One contraction at a time.”

You don’t need to fix labour or have all the answers. Your role is to stay calm, prepared, and present so she can focus fully on the work her body is doing.

My name is Jubi, and as a birth coach, supporting birth partners is a key part of my classes. If you’d like to join one, you can book via the link in my bio. 🤎

I’ve been a midwife for 8 years and a qualified hypnobirthing instructor for 6 and I’ve always understood the importance of the concepts that I teach but in the last few years (maybe it’s due to getting into Melbourne’s wellness culture) I’ve really tapped into a lot of these practices.

I’ve noticed such a big positive shift in my inner world from practicing Breathwork, affirmations and visualisation.

Breathwork to help me stay grounded in moments I feel out of control.

Affirmations when I need a little bit of self belief.

Visualisation when I need to rewire my brain for a new belief (like I can post a video of myself yapping and not absolutely pass away 😅)

These are just some of the tools I also use that I’ve taught women over the years to support more empowering birthing experiences. (I have birth stories sprinkled through my page, feel free to read them).

If you or someone you know is pregnant or maybe just looking for some tools to help keep you grounded during labour and birth, send this to them and stick around for some useful labour and birth tips from a registered midwife. 🤍

It’s been a hot minute. But I’m finally ready to get back to doing what I love most: helping mums feel genuinely prepared for birth.

Hi I’m Jubi and I’m a midwife from Ireland living and working in Melbourne Australia. I’ve been a midwife for 8 years and birth education has been a big part of that experience for me. Whether it was in an antenatal setting or through teaching formal birth classes of my own.

In the 2.5 years I’ve been in Australia, birth education took a bit of a back seat while I found my feet in a new healthcare system. But if I’m honest, supporting families through intentional and practical birth prep is the part I’ve missed the most.

So… I’m back. 🤍

Around here we’ll be talking about what actually helps you prepare for birth: understanding your options, making informed decisions, knowing what your body is doing, practical comfort techniques, birth partners support, navigating the maternity system, and building the confidence to trust yourself.

No fear. No fluff. Just evidence-based education from a midwife who has supported hundreds of births, so you can walk into labour feeling informed, calm and ready for whatever path your birth takes.

If you’re pregnant (or hoping to be one day), you’re in the right place.

P.S. If you’re in Melbourne… there may be some in-person birth classes coming soon so watch this space. 👀

Feel free to comment where you are in your pregnancy 🤰

What would the reason be to know these exist?

Sometimes I imagine what life would be like if I’d just chosen to do psychology like I wanted to instead of becoming a midwife.

I probably would never know what any of these things are or even looked like.

Any of these items come as a surprise to you? Have you used them or seen them in action before?

Thank God for a new year and thank God for January.

I’ve been struggling to feel ‘settled’ since I came back from travelling in December. When I was in Ireland I didn’t feel homesick at all or even nostalgic really but it’s not until I’ve come back to Australia that I’m now experiencing homesickness for the first time ever.

January has been good for resetting and focusing on my goals.

I’ve actually achieved a lot considering I don’t feel like it. I’ve been consistent with my fitness, knowing me I can’t keep still so I went off on another travel contract.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Even though January has felt loooooong I feel very grateful for what it has brought to me.

Hello February. 💕

In Ireland I’m used to babies being offered just one injection, Vitamin K at birth. But 3!!! In one go 😭 it’s a lot.

It’s normal for the parents in Queensland so they don’t really seem to mind but it was definitely a big shock for me.

What would you do in this situation?
