CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

Strength training three times a week is hard.
Prioritising sleep is hard.
Eating in alignment with your circadian rhythms is hard.
Planning, shopping for and preparing fresh, whole foods is hard.

But so is…

* Poor bone density and an increased risk of fractures
* Disrupted energy and unstable blood sugar
* Hormonal imbalance
* Poor gut health
* Insulin resistance
* Chronic inflammation

The choices that protect your health take time, effort and consistency. But so do the consequences of neglecting it.

You don’t get to choose whether life will ask something of you. You do get to choose which hard you’re prepared to work for.

Choose the hard that makes you stronger.

Not all protein is created equal. 🥩

It’s not just about how many grams of protein you eat - the amino acid profile matters too.

One amino acid in particular plays a starring role: leucine.

Leucine acts as a key signal for muscle protein synthesis - essentially helping to switch on the cellular machinery responsible for repairing and building muscle.

This is why two foods containing the same amount of protein may not produce the same muscle-building response. Animal proteins such as whey, eggs, dairy, meat and fish generally provide more leucine and all nine essential amino acids in highly bioavailable forms.
Many plant proteins contain less leucine per serve, meaning larger quantities or carefully combined protein sources may be needed to achieve a similar amino acid profile.

As we age, this becomes even more important. Our muscles become less responsive to smaller amounts of protein, a phenomenon known as anabolic resistance, making adequate high-quality protein and leucine increasingly important for preserving muscle, strength and function.

It’s not simply about eating “more protein”.

It’s about giving your muscles the right building blocks - in the right amounts.

Worried your body composition scan says you’ve “lost muscle”? Don’t panic - the number may not be telling the whole story.
Lean mass is not the same as muscle mass.
Changes in hydration can temporarily influence lean mass readings, particularly when we remember that muscle is approximately 75% water. Changes in glycogen and fluid balance can also affect what you see on the scan.
And as you lose fat, you’re not just losing the fat you can see. Changes can also occur in and around your muscle tissue - think of the difference between a marbled Wagyu steak and a lean eye fillet.
That’s why we should never judge progress from one number alone.
Look at the bigger picture: body fat, measurements, strength, how your clothes fit, how you feel and your progress over time.
A scan is a valuable tool - but it’s a snapshot, not the whole story.

If you’d like to learn how to improve your body composition, the next 28-day Metabolic Reboot Program starts Monday 💪

Building strength is one of the best things we can do for healthy ageing, metabolism and longevity - but it needs to be done with care.
Early strength gains can happen quickly, not just because your muscles are growing, but because your nervous system is learning how to use your muscles more efficiently.
The catch? Your tendons do not adapt at the same speed.
So, instead of chasing heavier weights too quickly, focus on controlled progression, good technique and giving your connective tissue time to catch up.
Strong for now is good.
Strong for life is better 💪

Choose health as your long term investment. Every effort you put in today pays you back in energy, resilience and longevity. The alternative? Disease becomes a subscription you can’t cancel.

Fat loss isn’t only about how much you move. It’s also about creating the right metabolic environment for your body to access stored energy.

The hours between dinner and breakfast can play an important role.

Giving your body time to digest before bed, reducing late-night eating, managing stress and prioritising quality sleep can all help support healthier insulin regulation and metabolic function overnight.

So if you’re doing “all the right things” during the day, don’t overlook what happens at night.

Your metabolism doesn’t clock off when you go to sleep.
