Yes. There is more than meets the eye 👁️…
Tick-borne illness can look psychiatric. That's one of the reasons it's so often missed. We've seen children and adults with:
• anxiety
• panic attacks
• OCD
• intrusive thoughts
• depression
• derealization
• mood instability
Later, an underlying infection was discovered, such as:
🦠 Lyme
🦠 Bartonella
🦠 Babesia
This doesn't mean every psychiatric symptom is caused by infection. But it does mean the brain and immune system are deeply connected. When inflammation affects the nervous system, mental and emotional symptoms can absolutely follow.
Particularly when symptoms:
⚠️ appear suddenly
⚠️ fluctuate dramatically
⚠️ worsen after illness or stress
⚠️ come alongside physical symptoms
Sometimes the story is bigger than "mental health" alone.
