It took me 45 years to come here.
Today was the first time I went to watch a movie alone.
For many, it may look like a very small thing.
But for me, it was the first time I truly chose myself over every role I have carried for years.
🎖️Mother.
🎖️Wife.
🎖️Daughter.
🎖️Friend.
🎖️Healer.
🎖️HR Manager.
Somewhere along the way, I started believing that everyone else needed to be taken care of before I could take care of myself.
But this morning, while having my coffee, something shifted.
I said to myself —
❌I am not going to cook today.
❌I am not going to clean.
❌I am not going to search for jobs.
❌I am simply going to do something for me.
Something I had been postponing for weeks.
A massage.
A hair colour.
A manicure.
A quiet coffee.
A movie alone.
As women, we are often conditioned to come last.
Nature made us nurturers.
☘️We give life.
☘️We hold families together.
☘️We nourish, protect and sustain others.
But even the energy that gives life needs rest.
It needs softness.
It needs replenishment.
It needs care.
So this post is for every woman who became so busy taking care of others that she quietly forgot herself.
I see you.
I hear you.
I have been there too.
Today, I took my first small step in breaking the invisible rules created by generations, expectations and guilt.
Go do something for yourself.
Not to prove anything.
Not to rebel.
Not to impress anyone.
Just for you.
It does not have to be something dramatic.
Sometimes healing is simply sitting in silence.
Watching a movie alone.
Smiling at yourself in the mirror.
Looking into your own eyes and saying:
“I got you.
You are beautiful.” 🤍
