We are so excited for our next event, featuring Dr. Christian Ntizimira, is about Integrating Palliative Care into Oncology: The Safari Concept, Ubuntu, and the Meaning of Suffering.
BOOK YOUR SPOT NOW!
This session will explore innovative approaches to integrating palliative care into oncology, grounded in sociocultural perspectives and the African philosophy of Ubuntu, "I am because we are.” Drawing on the safari concept, an African framework for end-of-life care, the session will examine how suffering is understood, expressed, and alleviated within different cultural contexts.
Participants will gain practical insights into how early palliative care integration can improve patient outcomes, reduce treatment burden, and enhance quality of life while remaining responsive to patients’ social realities, values, and beliefs. The discussion will highlight the importance of relational care, dignity, and community in addressing serious illness.
Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to strengthen palliative care delivery within their own systems and a deeper appreciation of how culturally grounded approaches, including Ubuntu, can transform the experience of care and suffering for patients and families.
