Flat warts are small, smooth, slightly raised skin growths caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Unlike common warts, flat warts are usually tiny, have a flatter surface, and often appear in clusters. They are most commonly found on the face, forehead, neck, hands, and legs.Flat warts are more common in children, teenagers, and young adults, but they can occur at any age. The virus spreads through direct skin contact or through small cuts and irritation caused by shaving, scratching, or friction. Because they are contagious, flat warts may spread to nearby areas of the skin if touched frequently.These warts are typically skin-colored, pink, or light brown and are usually painless.

One of the reasons I chose dermatology is that skin tells a story.

A tiny spot on the hand, a persistent bump on the foot, or a lesion that someone has ignored for years can often reveal much more than people realise. Viral warts are a good example. They’re incredibly common, affecting children and adults alike, yet many patients delay seeking advice because they feel embarrassed or assume nothing can be done.
Over the years, I’ve developed a strong interest in combining clinical dermatology with patient education. I believe understanding your skin is just as important as treating it. Whether that means discussing prevention, explaining why a treatment takes time, or reassuring someone that they’re not alone, those conversations matter.
At our clinic, we focus on thoughtful, evidence-based care. Every patient deserves an individual approach because no two skin conditions — or people — are exactly the same.

One of the most common misconceptions I hear in clinic is that warts are simply a cosmetic issue that will eventually disappear on their own.
While some do resolve naturally, many can persist for months or even years, spreading to surrounding skin or becoming increasingly difficult to treat. In my experience, early assessment often leads to simpler and more effective management.
Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping patients understand that healthy skin is about far more than appearance. Whether I’m treating inflammatory skin conditions, pigmentation concerns, or common viral infections like warts, my goal is always the same — to provide evidence-based care that supports long-term skin health.
Modern dermatology is not about chasing quick fixes. It’s about understanding the biology of the skin, selecting the right treatment for the individual, and giving patients the confidence to take control of their skin journey.
Every day, I’m reminded that even small skin concerns can have a significant impact on quality of life. Helping someone finally resolve a stubborn wart after years of frustration can be just as rewarding as treating far more complex conditions.
