Music Therapy is an evidence-based allied health profession, using music as a tool to support the wellbeing and health of people across the lifespan and populations. Music Therapists use music to meet participants' diverse needs including developmental, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual needs. Music Therapy is not music lesson or performance. Participants are not required to have musical backgrounds/training to participate in Music Therapy, in which a safe therapeutic space is provided for them to have unique music experiences based on their preferences. Sessions could look like live/recorded music listening, playing instruments together, improvising music, music and movement, music-assisted relaxation, music sharing, lyrics discussion, song writing, etc., for working towards participants' corresponding therapeutic goals.
