A new way to track brain health !!📱

An app designed to help track cognitive changes from the comfort of your own home.

While apps like these are not a replacement for a medical diagnosis, they represent an exciting new step towards earlier detection.

Every innovation; whether it be research trials or technological advancements, brings us closer to a future where dementia can be identified earlier and treated more effectively.

Noticed some changes in your cognition you're concerned about?

We've got something that can help.

Meet BrainTrack, our free app that helps you privately monitor and understand changes in cognition over time.

"It gave me an awareness of dementia," a BrainTrack user said about the app.

"While I have never openly discussed dementia with my GP I will in the future. It is also good to know that a Helpline is available."

Since launching in 2022, BrainTrack has been downloaded more than 200,000 times across 202 countries. And today, on World Brain Day, is the perfect time to start using it.

BrainTrack involves fun, travel-themed games that have been adapted from validated cognitive testing. Users can share their results with their doctor to support the early identification of cognitive changes that may warrant further testing.

Download BrainTrack for free from the Apple App and Google Play stores.

BrainTrack, was developed by Dementia Australia and Deakin University’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A²I²) Institute and is funded by the Australian Government.

Did you know 1 in 3 Australians living with dementia comes from a non-English speaking background.

This incredible diversity brings unique, often unspoken challenges to healthcare, especially when it comes to understanding and managing dementia.

The MindCare Collective have produced a variety of dementia resources in a variety of languages other than English. Click the link for videos on how to lower your dementia risk ℹ

Research shows that everyday habits can help reduce the risk of dementia. This animation shares five simple, practical ways to support brain health, including staying active, eating well, staying sharp and socially connected, making safer choices, and checking your health regularly.

With technology on the rise, socialising in person has never been more crucial.

Strong social connections do more than enrich our lives—they also play an important role in supporting brain health as we age. Spending time with friends, family, neighbours, or community groups helps keep our minds active, reduces feelings of loneliness, and may help lower the risk of cognitive decline.

Whether it's catching up over a coffee, joining a local club, volunteering, or simply making time for a conversation, every connection counts.

This Volunteer Week, we would also like to recognise the carers, family members, and loved ones who volunteer to support participants involved in dementia research 🫂

From attending appointments and providing encouragement, to helping navigate the challenges of memory and cognitive change — your support is an invaluable part of the research journey.

Clinical trials and dementia research would not be possible without the dedication, patience, and compassion shown by carers every day.

Thank you for helping make research possible and for contributing to a future of better understanding, treatment, and care for people impacted by dementia 🙏
