SPONDY SPINAL CONDITIONS,
- Atlas Physio

Spondylosis, Spondylitis, Spondylolysis, and Spondylolisthesis are structural conditions that affect the alignment and integrity of the bony parts of the human spine. Spondy- conditions typically occur in the lower back, but due to the lifetime strain, ongoing loading and physical activities, as well as the effect of age- and disease-related deterioration, it is possible for Spondy- conditions to affect other segments of the spine as well.

Regardless of the nature and extent of the condition, physiotherapy intervention can help to assess, diagnose, triage and manage any discomfort as well as take note of the presence or likelihood of serious side-effects or symptoms that warrant further investigation.

Management of your discomfort depends on its causative factors, how it feels and changes during the day, what makes it better and worse, and the length of time you have been experiencing that pain. Contact us to arrange an assessment, and to take the first step on a course of corrective care today.

FRAILTY,
- Atlas Physio

Frailty is a clinical state that is associated with an increased risk of harm, admission to hospital, disability, and poorer quality of life. Frailty refers to a loss of physical strength and physiological reserve, means that an individual living with frailty is more vulnerable to the physically stressing effects of diseases, infections, and injuries. Because of this increased vulnerability, individuals who are frail sometimes require increased care support and monitoring, from medical and allied health, social supports, and personal care.

Frailty is most commonly seen in the elderly, though any individual can experience frailty as a consequence of illness, injury, or some other factor that depletes the body's ability to maintain itself. For this reason, while frailty is associated with ageing, frailty is a problem separate to ageing and increasing geriatry. Because of this, anyone who experiences a chronic illness, who spends a long time in hospital, or who becomes injured runs the risk of frailty.

Management of your discomfort depends on its causative factors, how it feels and changes during the day, what makes it better and worse, and the length of time you have been experiencing that pain. Contact us to arrange an assessment, and to take the first step on a course of corrective care today.

TEN WORK-RELATED CAUSES OF KNEE PAIN,
- Atlas Physio

In Australia, during the 2023-2024 reporting period, traumatic joint, ligament and muscle or tendon injuries, as well as musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases totalled more than seventy-thousand serious claims, making up just over 58% of the total number of serious claims in that period.

Lower limb injuries and disorders are common occurrences that arise from occupational exposures, with bursitis, meniscal lesions, osteoarthritis, patellofemoral pain, and stress fractures as well as muscular and ligamentous tears, nerve entrapments, and general strain being typical injuries that workers experience as a consequence of engaging with physical or posturally awkward work.

Read on to learn about ten work-related causes of knee pain that we have seen, treated, and managed in the clinic.

Give us a ring if any of these seem familiar to you, and if we can give you a hand with any discomfort you may be experiencing.

POST-SURGERY PHYSIOTHERAPY
- Atlas Physio

Post-Surgical Physiotherapy refers to any physiotherapy intervention undertaken following, and in the context of, surgical management of a problem. Timely physiotherapy intervention in the form of post-surgical rehab has been established as a highly effective means of ensuring a good outcome following surgery, minimising the risk of an adverse outcome, and best preparing someone to meet the demands of their lives.

Post-Surgical Physiotherapy can be conducted as soon as less than twenty-four hours of an operation, depending on the surgeon's orders as well as the state of the patient following the procedure. This physiotherapy is routinely conducted within the hospital, on ward or in a specific rehabilitation gym designed to provide a safe and supportive environment in which exercise can be undertaken, and where patients can be monitored and cared for in the event of an issue.

Management of your discomfort depends on its causative factors, how it feels and changes during the day, what makes it better and worse, and the length of time you have been experiencing that pain. Contact us to arrange an assessment, and to take the first step on a course of corrective care today.

FALLS
- Atlas Physio

A fall is an event where the body, or part of the body, comes to rest on the ground unintentionally. This means that a fall can refer to any time someone slips, trips, slides off a chair, and lands on the ground. Falls can occur in many circumstances - due to illness, weakness in the legs, loss of balance, loss of blood pressure, a blow to the head causing unconsciousness, and ingestion of alcohol or narcotics. Falls can be minor and result in superficial injuries, or they can be fatal. A fall onto grass can be inconsequential for a child or someone immediately post-adolescence, while a fall onto the same surface can result in a lethal fracture for someone of significantly older age, and this risk is amplified by the presence of comorbidities.

Management of your discomfort depends on the cause of the pain, how it feels and changes over the day, what makes it better or worse, and the length of time you have been experiencing the pain. At Atlas Physio, we will provide you with education, structured management, and ongoing monitoring of your pain both in and out of the clinic. Contact us to arrange an assessment, and to take the first step on a course of corrective care today.

TRANSPORT ACCIDENTS
- Atlas Physio

Transport Accidents refer to injuries sustained during the operation of personal and commercial motor vehicles, bicycles, trams, and motorbikes. Transport Accidents can affect the drivers of vehicles, pedestrians, bystanders, and responders to accidents. Transport Accidents can affect many people, and we are all at risk of experiencing one in our lives, due to the extent to which we are dependent on road-based transportation to engage with the spatial demands of our lives.

Management of your discomfort depends on the cause of the pain, how it feels and changes over the day, what makes it better or worse, and the length of time you have been experiencing the pain. At Atlas Physio, we will provide you with education, structured management, and ongoing monitoring of your pain both in and out of the clinic.
