DECKS NOW AVAILABLE 🤯🥳🤩

I’m so excited to share with you that this little creation I’ve been working on for 6 months has arrived!!

So, what are they? They’re a deck of 46 affirmation cards based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.

They’re perfect if you want a way to connect in with your body and mind and learn a little about health and self care from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective in the process.

The cards each include an affirmation, a bit more information about that concept, and a contemplative question or action to get you connected to that aspect of yourself.

The cards explore Yin and Yang, the organs of Chinese medicine, the five elements, the seasons, some acupressure points, and more!

They’re currently available through my online shop (link in bio to get your hands on some!) and in the clinic in Hampton.

NEW BLOG || Spring is a time for new beginnings, as the days get longer and the sun starts getting (a little) warmer. It’s a time of expansion rather than contraction, and starting to move and grow outward in the world after the hibernation of winter. Spring is associated with the Liver in Chinese Medicine, and therefore the best time of the year to look after our Liver's. Have a read why and how to support your Liver energy this Spring :)

Spring is a time for new beginnings, as the days get longer and the sun starts getting (a little!) warmer. But it’s also the season of strong winds (especially here in Melbourne!). It’s a time of expansion rather than contraction, and starting to move and grow outward in the world after the hibe...

THE CONCEPT OF THE CAULDRON AND THE FIRE | In TCM, we often use simple analogies to explain complex processes, and digestion is no different. An analogy often used is looking at the digestive system as a cauldron bubbling away on a fire with steam rising from it. The cauldron represents the stomach; cooking the food we consume and transforming it into the nutrients and energy that powers our body, known in Chinese medicine as the Qi and Blood. The steam rising from the cauldron is this energy, and is essentially all the nutrients extracted in the digestive process.

But the most important part here is the digestive fire that warms the cauldron. Without this fire, all we have is a cauldron full of food, waiting to be cooked.

This analogy explains why in Chinese medicine, the consumption of raw foods as well as cold food and drink from the fridge is advised against, as it suppresses the digestive fire, creating an extra burden on the digestion by slowing it down. This analogy can also relate to overeating, as by overfilling the cauldron, there needs to be far more fire to cook and transform the food.

HEAT LAMP ON YOUR TOOTSIES | it’s the time of year where everyone gets some heat lamp on their feet during treatment. And not just because it feels divine and helps you relax when your feet are nice and toasty... 🔥

The Liver, Kidney and Spleen acupuncture channels all begin in the feet. Being Yin channels, they can tend towards cold - especially in winter. The Kidney in particular is the organ that is most affected by cold, and getting cold into that channel through our feet can affect our body’s fine balance. It can even worsen lower back pain (an area ruled by the Kidney energy) and contribute to period pain (again, a department ruled by the strength of the Kidney energy)

By warming the feet, we help warm the entire body by supplementing the Kidney, Liver and Spleen which all have important functions in TCM including reproduction, digestion, blood production, and the movement of Qi and blood throughout the body.

At home, this can be done just as easily by not walking barefoot around the house, with a hot water bottle, or a warming foot soak. 🦶

TONGUES OUT | Here’s a fun little way to connect in with your body and check your digestion.. 😋

In TCM, the tongue is a mirror of the body - and particularly reflective of your digestive system. Next time you go to eat something that you’re not sure if your body likes, try looking at your tongue before eating it.. and then again about 30 mins after. If the coat on your tongue has gotten thicker, it means your digestion’s really working hard to digest that food and may be one to try and minimise

A super easy way to test this out is if you have a few more wines than you should have - check your tongue before bed and again in the morning - I guarantee your tongue coat will be thick!! 😅 Wine is both heating and damp producing in excess, but a little bit moves Qi in the body and occasionally is used in some herbal formulas to help move stagnant energy

Reflecting on my last day at the beautiful Enerchi yesterday, and I wanted to take the time to say a big big thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the incredible patients I’ve seen here.

Thank you so much for entrusting me with your health, and allowing me to be a part of your journey. It’s an honour that I don’t take lightly.

I have so much thanks to Doug for all of the wisdom, support, and hard truths along the way. And to all the practitioners and incredible reception team I’ve gotten to call my colleagues and dear friends. Your support, love and amazing energy you bring everyday has made Enerchi the once in a lifetime workplace it will always be.

Although the chapter of Enerchi closed yesterday, the energy of the space lives on not only in all the practitioners and staff, but in every single person who walked through these doors over the years and left feeling lighter, and this is something that will be carried on in all of our hearts.

💚💙💜

“We have to allow the body to excel at what it does automatically, which is heal... If you’re icing, you’re getting in the way, not facilitating.”

It’s nice when the mainstream medicine community starts catching up to what Chinese medicine has been saying for centuries.. 🤓😝

It doesn't help muscles heal—and it might actually do damage.
