Sciatica isn’t just a “pinched nerve.” 👀

Sciatica is a common cause of leg pain, but it’s often misunderstood. While some cases involve irritation or pressure on a nerve, that’s not always the reason your symptoms occur.

The good news? Most cases of sciatica improve with the right assessment, personalised treatment, and a gradual return to movement.

In our latest blog, we cover:
✔️ What sciatica actually is
✔️ Why scans often aren’t needed
✔️ How physiotherapy can help your recovery
✔️ The warning signs that require urgent medical attention

If you’re experiencing pain travelling into your leg, don’t rely on guesswork. An accurate assessment is the first step towards effective treatment.

BUSTED: 4 Common Physio Myths

When you’re dealing with pain or an injury, it’s easy to get caught up in advice from friends, family, or the internet. Unfortunately, some of the most common beliefs about injuries can actually slow your recovery.

We’re breaking down 4 myths we often hear in the clinic:
🔹 “I need a scan before seeing a physio.”
🔹 “My injury will just get better on its own.”
🔹 “Rest is the best thing for a sore tendon.”
🔹 “Exercise will make my back pain worse.”

The truth? The right assessment, advice, and exercise plan can make a huge difference to your recovery and help you get back to doing what you love, sooner.

👉 Swipe through to learn more and find out why these myths don’t always tell the full story.

Clinical exercise isn’t just about doing Pilates, it’s about doing the right exercise, the right way, for your body.

At City Baths Physio, our Clinical Exercise program bridges the gap between physiotherapy and reformer-based training, so you’re not just moving… you’re progressing with purpose.

✅ Start with a 1:1 physio assessment
✅ Build a personalised program based on your goals + injury history
✅ Refine it with follow-up sessions and direct supervision
✅ Progress into small, physio-led group classes
✅ Option to train independently once you’re confident

Why choose us?
✔ Private clinical exercise studio with reformers, trapeze and a range of other equipment
✔ Small class sizes (max 4) for quality supervision
✔ Experienced physiotherapists
✔ Convenient Melbourne CBD location
✔ Suitable for all fitness levels

If you’re ready to move beyond generic reformer classes and into truly individualised, evidence-based exercise, clinical exercise is where physiotherapy meets Pilates.

✈️ From Hakuba to Melbourne: we’ve got your recovery covered. 🎿

Japan’s famous “Japow” is a dream to ski, but deep powder and off-piste terrain also come with higher injury risk. ACLs, ankles and knees often take the hit.

That’s why City Baths Spinal & Sports Medicine Clinic has partnered with Peak Sports Physio Hakuba to provide seamless injury care for Melburnians skiing in Japan, from acute treatment on the slopes to structured rehab back home in Melbourne.

✅ Immediate physio in Hakuba
✅ Travel insurance & return-home planning
✅ Coordinated handover to our Melbourne team
✅ Imaging, referrals & long-term rehab

No repeating your story. No gaps in care. Just a smarter way to recover and return to sport.

👉 Read the full blog via the link in bio and ski with confidence.

👥 Who is Clinical Exercise actually for?
Short answer: almost everyone but especially people who want more than a generic Pilates class.

A physio-led Clinical Exercise program is ideal if you’re:
✔️ Managing pain or recovering from injury
✔️ Returning to sport after time off
✔️ Pre or post-natal and want safe, guided movement
✔️ A teen with posture or movement issues
✔️ A mature adult wanting to stay strong and mobile
✔️ Living with a neurological condition and need tailored support

Unlike standard reformer Pilates, clinical exercise starts with a 1:1 physiotherapy assessment and evolves as you do. Every session is designed around your body, your goals and your progress, not the person on the machine next to you.

If you’re in Melbourne CBD and want an exercise program that’s safe, individualised and focused on long-term results, clinical exercise may be exactly what you’re looking for.
