Chloe is a new(ish) addition to our team taking on the role of Program Officer - Digital Nutrition.

Chloe was previously a volunteer at the National Nutrition Foundation and then supported our MarComms team for about a year before officially joining the NNF team. With a background in both nutrition research and marketing, Chloe brings a data-driven and audience-focused approach to improving public health outcomes. In this new role, Chloe is looking forward to working across digital programs and campaigns to translate nutrition evidence into accessible, engaging content.

Chloe loves hobbies (unfortunately not the Hobbit) and is currently trying out sewing, learning Italian and ballet. She is also training for a 180km hike in Europe later this year

World Food Safety Day 2026 is an internationally recognised day that occurs every year on 7 June. This year’s theme “From burden to solutions - safe food everywhere”, focuses on the significance of data in directing action.

The day highlights the importance of food safety being a shared responsibility that requires joint community involvement. It encourages consumers, food business, scientists, and policymakers to prioritise action to provide safe food.

Collective actions can lead to positive outcomes to reduce health burden, and in turn promote public health and wellbeing.

💡 Here are the 4C’s practical tips to help you practice food safety:

1️⃣ Cleaning
- Remember to wash and sanitise all equipments and surfaces prior to handling food.
- Wash your hands before, during, and after handling food.

2️⃣ Cross-contamination
- Use different coloured cutting boards for raw and cooked ingredients.
- Use separate utensils when handling raw foods.
- Raw and cooked foods should be stored in separate containers.

3️⃣ Cooking
- Ensure that cooked foods are reheated thoroughly.
- For safe food consumption, ensure cooked foods are above 60C.

4️⃣ Chilling
- Ideal temperature to keep chilled food is below 5C.
- Thaw food at the bottom of your fridge instead of at room temperature.

World Food Safety Day is an opportunity to learn, share and take collective action to maintain food safety and overall health.

National Reconciliation Week is here, and we’re All in.

The 2026 theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every single day.

"All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us." - Reconciliation Australia

Food Allergy Week 2026 highlights the importance of raising awareness about food allergies to help keep Australians with food allergies safe.

This week is focuses on the awareness and education of anaphylaxis to improve the safety for people living with food allergies.

Recognising the signs and being ready to react to people with food allergies, can help reduce the risk of allergic reactions and help keep the community safe.

This Food Allergy Week, we are supporting to help raise awareness for Australians living with food allergy. They have food allergy education resources available for teachers and students. Additionally, a free online Adrenaline Hub resource was created, providing information to help us recognise signs of anaphylaxis and how best to respond.

📣 Reminder for teachers!

Australian primary and secondary school teachers are invited to take part in a short online survey exploring confidence and attitudes around food and nutrition messaging in schools.

How food is talked about at school can shape students’ experiences and relationships with food. This research will help inform future recommendations to support more positive and effective messaging in school settings.

The survey is being led by A/Prof Gabriella Heruc and the research team at Western Sydney University and University of Newcastle, and takes around 15 minutes to complete.

The theme for this year’s National Sorry Day is From Sorry to Action. The call is clear, we must move from words to action, and this needs to happen now, not in another decade.

Acknowledging past harm is important, but acting to address it is critical. Sorry signals compassion, action delivers justice.

We encourage you to mark National Sorry Day on 26 May, and to stand with us to ensure this day is part of an ongoing commitment to truth-telling and healing.
