Kidney 9.
This point has a beautiful chinese name “guest house” referring to a fetus as a guest in the womb. This point is used for detoxification in pregnancy. This point is also good for detoxification of negative thoughts and drugs. When used with other points you can be more specific in what organ you can help in detox (eg skin or kidneys).

Emotional wellbeing. What do you do to nourish your soul and calm your mind?
This is my prayer/meditation table. I have a ritual of lighting my candle every night in prayer and meditate when the little people are asleep.
It’s my me time, and a time I feel I can do a little by sending a prayer for peace in a time of chaos.
May we all focus of loving and respecting each other even when the world is trying to create division and fear. May we not give in to fear and stand strong in our truth.
I look forward to setting up a new clinic space when we move to talk all matters of health, wholistic health. That’s where my passion lies. That’s what I live by and honour.

I have recently had the pleasure of listening to a Peter Deadman talk discussing the importance of 'Yang Shen'.

Yang Shen means nourishment of life (physical, mental/emotional and diet) it has roots in Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism and of course Chinese medicine.

I think in these troubling times remembering that the simple everyday patterns and lifestyle choices we make impact our health significantly.

I like the analogy of the 4 chair legs (1.diet, 2.mental/ emotional/spiritual, 3.physical and 4.sexual expression) all having to be balanced and taken care of to support the chair.

There is a lot of fear and panic being driven by the main stream narrative of global events currently, so I have been reminded of the importance Yang Shen, to not let my fear for the future health of our global community become excessive.

I would like to share a few generalised links for you to have education material available should you come up with some difficult health choices or need support.
I am also available at my email address to talk about acupuncture to help mitigate the effects of the big health choices currently being forced upon some people.

Diet is our everyday medicine or poison. Here is a great book, available from our local book barn or online that can teach you how to eat right for your body type and stage of life.

Lastly mediation is a wonderful tool that is free and anyone can do. It changes the brain, a powerful tool to get through the ups and downs of life and help mitigate the damage of stress on the body, mind and soul.

or look up Russell Brand for meditation tips on youtube.

Lastly in times of stress drink tea with a friend :)!

Our current health climate and the responses to finding the 'solution' are impacting mental and social health significantly. My heart goes out to all the families effected by su***de.

This pandemic in the wholistic health sector has shown the extent of chronic poor health (not only in the elderly and immunocompromised, but in the whole population). We are over fed, but under nourished and over medicated, but still no closer to health. There is a high rate of low-moderate chronic illness's effecting people's quality of life. We may live longer but we have less quality of life quite often.

The 'silver bullet' of yet another new (and rushed) vaccine is a scary prospect for those wholistically minded. I am not fully against all vaccines, however there is no public knowledge of which ones contain higher ratios of dangerous adjuvants and which age groups are more likely to suffer adverse outcomes from vaccinations (particularly from the increased schedule these days). The vaccine industry is a very wealthy one and wants to stay that way...money is to be made $$ ;).

I'd like to offer some VERY simple tips of boosting your immunity, as we all need to bring things back to being simple in these chaotic times.

1. Reduce/eliminate refined sugar and dairy
2. Reduce processed foods and meats
3. Eat whole-foods and plenty of vegetables that are in season (nature gives us what we need in each season. Eastern medicine is big on this, as our bodies and qi go through cycles with the seasons)
4. Include chicken bone broth (organic frames)
5. Get outside and away from screens as much as possible
6. Mindfullness and meditation
7. Social contact. Walk with a buddy (obviously sticking to rules). Zoom with friends and family. Stay connected and in touch and reach out to others when you need.

Very sweet and simple tips :).

I have been doing my updates on the corona virus and how treat and prevent it with herbal medicine. Facetime consults available.

However what is most important at this time where media and social media are spinning a lot of misplaced fear and anxiety to the healthy population is to practise centering ourselves and adding practices such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation to our lives.

Smiling Mind is a non-for-profit web and app-based meditation program developed by psychologists and educators to help bring mindfulness into your life.

Did you know our external environment also influences out health, along with diet, lifestyle and the emotions?
In the hills we have a lot of beautiful mists, this is what we call environmental dampness.

Dampness can manifest in the body as arthritis, phlegm, cysts, loose stools, heavy head/legs, fatigue, loss of appetite, bloating etc.

We can generate damp internally and the environmental dampness can seep in too.

Some home practices that can help sift damp are to include warming spices in your diet (ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cumin), green and black tea, always having warm temperature foods, regular exercise. Avoiding dairy, cold temperature food and drink items, sugar and tropical fruits.

* I offer more extensive information in my health consults.
