THIS FRIDAY- DON'T MISS OUT: 6.30 PM AT QI MEDICINE
Have you been told your period pain is just something to manage? Have you been handed an option that quietens the symptoms without ever explaining what's actually driving them?

If you've been living with pain each month and still don't have real answers, this one is for you.

This Friday the 11th of September at 6:30 pm, we're opening the doors at the clinic for an evening all about the menstrual cycle.

We'll be unpacking some of the most common misconceptions about period pain, looking at the role underlying inflammation can play, and talking through conditions like endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS in a way that actually makes sense.

Period pain is common. That doesn't make it normal. And understanding what's happening inside your own body is where everything starts.

It's a small, relaxed evening, so there's room to ask the questions you've maybe been carrying around for years. Come on your own, or bring a friend, or your mum, or your daughter.

Presented by Dr Mysty Maljanek, Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner.

Friday 11 September, 6:30pm
Qi Medicine Acupuncture, Suite 4, Level 1, 151 Pascoe Vale Road, Moonee Ponds
$34 per person

Spots are limited and we'd love to have you there. Book below to secure your place.

You're up before everyone else, you've packed the lunches, you've answered three messages before you've even had your coffee, and somewhere in the middle of all that, your body started feeling like it belonged to someone else.

The sleep isn't what it was. The temperature runs hot, then cold. Your mood shifts before you've had a chance to catch it. And because everyone around you needs something, you keep going anyway.

Perimenopause has a habit of arriving right in the busiest season of life.

The years where you're raising kids, holding down work, carrying the mental load for the whole household. It's a lot to ask of one body, and most women we see have been quietly putting themselves last for a long time.

In Chinese medicine, we look at the whole picture.

Your sleep, your cycle, your digestion, your stress, your energy through the day. Not one symptom in isolation, but how it all fits together for you. It's one of the most common reasons women come to see us, and one of the areas we're most passionate about.

It doesn't have to be so hard.

If any of this sounds like where you're at, let's have a chat about how we can help.

Standard pathology is essential for diagnosing disease. In our Chinese Medicine approach, we look at a broader picture—exploring ranges and patterns that relate to your overall wellbeing.

We often see women whose results are within range, yet they still struggle with energy, pain, or fertility.

Here's why we look deeper:
Iron in range ≠ optimal for your goals
TSH in range ≠ full thyroid picture
Oestrogen in range ≠ balanced with progesterone

We assess the whole picture—your history, subtle signs, and the symptoms you may have stopped mentioning.

If something feels off, trust that. If your body is asking for help and you don’t know where to start we invite to book an appointment using the link in the bio!

Our ambition isn't the problem.

Your nervous system's response to it often is.

We see this pattern clearly in high-achieving women: the 'always-on' state becomes so normalised you forget it's there.

But your body remembers. Clenched jaw. Tight shoulders. That 2 AM mental scroll.

In Chinese medicine, we view this persistent stress as intimately connected to hormonal health—influencing thyroid function, progesterone balance, and cycle regularity.

This isn't a personality flaw. It's physiology responding to a sustained load.

The real shift? Asking what your body could do if it wasn't constantly braced for impact.

If you feel like you constantly live in a state of fight or flight maybe it’s worth having a conversation about why.

We would love to support you. Click the link in our bio if you feel you're ready to have that conversation.

Here is the top thing I say to all of my male fertility patients: keep your s***m cool 😎

S***m are produced and stored in the te**es, which live outside of the body strategically so that they are cooler than body temperature (clever, huh?). They are also designed to move further away when it’s hot and move closer when it’s cold (brilliant).

If the te**es and s***m get too hot, this can cause damage which reduces the number of s***m that can fertilise the egg.

If you are trying to conceive and you’re regularly using a sauna or hot tub, having hot showers or baths, wearing tight pants, sitting down a lot, or working in a job that turns up the heat (e.g. chef), then it’s super important that you make some changes to keep your te**es, and therefore your s***m, cool.

This means stopping/reducing where possible anything that heats up the te**es (all of the above), plus wearing looser-fitting pants, engaging in exercise if you’re often sedentary, and adding in cooling underwear or taking breaks if heat exposure is inevitable.

If you’re doing all of this and still needing extra support, it might be time to get some herbs and acupuncture into your life. Book in that appointment and let’s get started - I would love to support you!
