If your hip flexors always feel ‘tight,’ your instinct is probably to stretch them. But often, that tightness is a cry for strength 🏋️‍♀️.

The goal isn’t to jump to the hardest variation; Find one you can control and progress with good technique. As always, these exercises are most effective when tailored to your specific clinical assessment ✨.

If you’re working on shoulder strength and stability, these three exercises are a great place to start 💪

They target rotator cuff strength and scapular control, helping you build stronger, more stable shoulders.

If you feel a pinch rather than your muscles working, it may be worth adjusting your technique or getting it assessed 👀. Our physiotherapists can help tailor your exercises to your body, movement and goals.

Pelvic Floor Series | Part 5 Heavy Lifting & Your Pelvic Floor 🏋️‍♀️✨

Lifting heavy is a very normal part of strength training, but it’s important to understand how your pelvic floor responds when your body is under increased pressure.

This isn’t about avoiding heavy lifting (we love clinical strength training!), but it’s important to give your body the foundations it needs to move confidently and safely.

That wraps up our current Pelvic Floor Series! If you’re unsure whether you’re engaging correctly, our Women’s Health Physiotherapists are here to guide you. 🌱

You’re putting in the work, but your shoulder strength has plateaued. Sound familiar? 🫣

Usually, this comes down to a lack of stability. As you add resistance, it’s easy to lose your foundational mechanics - which ultimately caps your progress.

Every rep is an opportunity to refine how you control the joint and build lasting resilience.

Save this post to check your form on your next upper body day, or hit the link in our bio to book an assessment! 💪

Meet Clinical Myotherapist, Jade Olsen. 👋

Before stepping into clinical practice, Jade spent years in the world of dance, acrobatics, and classical teaching. This background gives her a unique advantage in the clinic - she has an expert eye for spotting the subtle compensations, control patterns, and inefficiencies that lead to pain and restriction over time.

Armed with an Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy, Jade bridges the gap between high-level movement and hands-on clinical treatment. She doesn’t just treat the site of pain; she looks at your whole system to understand why it’s happening, building practical treatment plans that match how you actually move in real life.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing ongoing tension, or unlocking better mobility, Jade is here to restore your function.

Clinical Pilates gets lumped in with fitness classes a lot, and we understand why - but it’s a very much a different thing, and the difference matters. ✨

At Body Lab, our Clinical Pilates sessions are led by Physiotherapists. Every exercise is chosen deliberately, based on your body, your injury history, and the goals that you’re working towards. It bridges the gap between hands-on treatment and moving confidently on your own - and it’s particularly well suited to people recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or wanting to build strength and stability as they get older.

Classes are small, attention is individual, and the goal is always the same: to help you move better. Book an assessment via the link in bio👇

Surgery gets a lot of attention. The preparation beforehand — and the rehabilitation after — often don’t get nearly enough, even though that’s where outcomes are really made or lost 🤕

Prehab is one of the most under-utilised tools available to people facing surgery. The research is clear: patients who build strength and mobility beforehand often recover faster and experience fewer complications.

At Body Lab, we work with you closely and guide you through every stage of the process, from prehab to full recovery. If you’ve got a procedure coming up, or you’re already on the other side of one, we can help. Book via the link in bio 👇

One of the questions we get asked most often is whether to book with a physiotherapist or a myotherapist. It’s a great question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what’s going on. 🤔

Physiotherapy focuses on diagnosing and treating the root cause of pain or movement dysfunction - it’s well suited to new injuries, complex conditions, and anything that needs a differential diagnosis.

Myotherapy works with the soft tissues targeting muscular pain and dysfunction through soft tissue techniques and dry needling - highly effective for chronic tension, recurring tightness, and postural pain.

The two complement each other well, which is why we offer both at Body Lab. Not sure which is right for you? Book a physio assessment and we’ll point you in the right direction! Link in bio 🤍.
