The same implant will look different on different people due to variations in everyone’s anatomy. When looking through before and after surgery photos, it is most helpful to find BEFORE photos who look most like you. This will give a better indication of what you can look like AFTER.

Surgery: Breast Reduction - “Lollipop Scar”
Photos: Before and 6 weeks after surgery
Age of patient: 25 - 39
Bra change: 8H - 12D
Breast tissue weight removed:
Right 422g, left 495g

Surgeons always advise their patients that it takes time for their result to settle. As a guide, it takes 12 months to see the final result. With the short scar/“lollipop scar” technique, there is often some bunching of the breast skin in the lower pole that takes time to retract. In some cases, a small procedure is required to excise the skin that does not completely settle.

The changes that are seen over the 12 months post surgery include:
🔎 Swelling gradually resolves,
🔎 As swelling reduces, the tissues become softer,
🔎 The tissues settle and the breast tissue “drops”,
🔎 The scars fade over time.

Hospital stay: 1 x overnight
Surgery time: 2.5 hours
Driving: 1 - 2 weeks
Back to work: 2 weeks (work dependent)
Return to exercise: 6 weeks (running 2 - 3 months)

My first time in Christchurch for more than 20 years, to attend the New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons meeting on their 50th anniversary year.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and colleagues, meeting up with my mentors from my registrar days and hanging out with my old trainee buddies. I’m also excited to spend time with my daughter who is studying back in New Zealand and has joined me for a long weekend.

Christchurch is unrecognisable after extensive rebuilding post earthquake in 2011. It’s great to see the city is thriving.

Highlights of our day:
Catching up with Dr Jonathan Heather.
Walking around Hagley Park with my daughter and watching the ducks.
Brunch QUAD EATERY.
Ice cream at Charlie’s even though the day was freezing.
Wandering around the city centre.
Dinner at Zodiac Bar - delicious!

Upper blepharoplasty involves removal of excess upper eyelid skin and re-definition of the upper eyelid crease; this has the effect of “opening up” the eyes, giving a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Vision can also be improved with removal of overhanging skin. Blepharoplasty surgery can be both cosmetic and reconstructive.

Procedure: Upper Blepharoplasty
• Day Surgery
• 1.5 hours
• Recovery: Return to work 1 - 2 weeks (work dependent)
• Return to exercise: 2 weeks for light exercise and 4 - 6 weeks for heavier exercise.

Due to AHPRA regulations, questions only please, no comments that could be considered testimonials.

All before and after patient photos are of real patients who have had their surgery performed by Dr Natalie Ngan. These patients have all given their consent to share their photos. Dr Natalie Ngan (MED0001677217) is a registered medical practitioner with specialist registration in Plastic Surgery.

There are no guarantees that your results will be the same as the patients shown, and results will vary between individuals. All surgeries have associated risks and recovery times. Before proceeding with surgery, it is advisable to seek a second opinion from a qualified medical practitioner such as a Plastic Surgeon.

Plastic Surgeon is a regulated term that can only be used by surgeons who have completed speciality training within plastic surgery and are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Combining procedures such as breast reduction or lift and an abdominoplasty can be performed safely together in many patients. This combines the recovery period and addresses two areas that are problematic for the patient.
This patient has had weight loss of 70kg and a history of multiple pregnancies. As a result she has been troubled by excess skin and separation of her re**us abdominis muscles. Abdominoplasty surgery involved excising the excess skin and was performed with a breast reduction.

Hospital stay: 3 x overnight
Surgery time: 4.5 - 5 hours
Driving: 2 weeks
Back to work: 3 - 4 weeks (work dependent)
Return to exercise: 6 weeks full exercise, up to 3 months for running and major core exercises as this can affect the re**us diastasis repair.

With the short scar or lollipop scar technique, patients are advised that there is often some residual skin under the breast that will gradually retract over the year after surgery. There may be some who require a small procedure to excise this skin if it doesn’t completely retract. This patient is considering this scar revision for that can be performed under local anaesthetic in the rooms.
