This page was initially set up to recruit participants for a Commonwealth-funded research study about the Opioid Safety Toolkit, which helps people use prescription opioids more safely. The trial showed great success in helping people navigate safer ways to use prescription opioids.

This page is now dedicated to sharing important consumer resources that support safer opioid use and making the opioid safety toolkit easily accessible for as many people as possible who are prescribed opioids for pain relief. The co-designed Opioid Safety Toolkit includes personalised information and evidence based resources for consumers, carers and healthcare professionals. The Toolkit has been rigorously tested as part of a randomised controlled trial which showed it was acceptable to consumers and improves safety behaviours including requesting naloxone. The Toolkit is currently being disseminated nationally via community pharmacies, in addition to other dissemination modalities being adopted online and face-to-face through our project partners and other consumer and health professional organisations.
