Reduce pain. Improve circulation. Bring warmth back to your body with Moxibustion🪵✨

Moxibustion is a traditional heat therapy using dried mugwort leaf (Artemisia vulgaris). Held just above the skin, it delivers a deeply penetrating, infrared-like warmth that goes far beyond surface-level heat.
Why moxa works so well:
Boosts blood flow: Opens up tight capillaries and clears stagnation.
Relieves pain: Soothes stiff joints and calms sensitive nerves.
Reduces swelling: Helps flush out local inflammation.
Restores vitality: Deeply grounding, warming, and restorative.
While I use moxa in clinic to support pelvic circulation and hormonal balance, right now I’m using it on myself for chilblains.
Chilblains happen when tiny blood vessels react poorly to cold, causing painful, itchy, inflamed toes and fingers. Applying moxa gently opens those constricted vessels, takes the sting out immediately, and speeds up healing.
Do you suffer from poor winter circulation like me? Or painful periods or endo?

Your hidden home build up could be quietly triggering your immune system.
Dust dust mites and mould spores accumulate in bathroom exhaust fans ducted heating vents and dryer vents circulating straight into the air you breathe every day.
Constant exposure to these environmental toxins drives up a chronic histamine response and triggers mast cell activation for many women.
Getting your vents professionally cleaned at least once a year is a simple way to clear the air and lower your body load.
Signs of Mast Cell Activation:
🚨Brain fog and fatigue
🚨Anxiety and irritability
🚨Frequent sneezing and allergies
🚨Unexplained hives and itching
🚨Bloating and reflux
🚨Headaches and heart palpitations
Your environment might be playing a role if you have been ticking off these symptoms.
When was the last time you had your vents cleaned? 👇

The low down of 3 key things about perimenopause

Don’t feel gaslit if you’re in your 30s or early 40s and have noticed a shift in your mood, energy, sleep, cycles and cognitive function. Yes perimenopause starts as early as 35!!

Due to the chaos that’s happening with the shift in hormones, it’s a really tricky and chaotic time for women to navigate, and often we just don’t feel like ourselves 😔

Perimenopause can last for 7 to 14 years and concludes when we reach menopause (which is the cessation of a menstrual cycle for over 12 months).

Buckle up, cause here’s the lowdown of what happens 🎢

Initially progesterone drops and ovulation becomes more erratic.

Then we start to see a shift in oestrogen where it can rapidly surge and crash throughout your cycle. This creates a zone of chaos in your body so we experience more inflammation, anxiety, brain fog, moodiness, irritability, frustration, hot, flushes, migraines, headaches, difficulty, concentrating. THERE’S OVER 100 SYMPTOMS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AND CONNECTED WITH PERIMENOPAUSE🤯🤯🤯

Cycles shift and go all over the place, shorter longer more regular

More heightened emotions, rage, anxiety, irritability, sad

Changes in blood flow with cycles, heavier, lighter, more days of bleeding or less. It can be a real mixed bag.

There’s no blood test that can diagnose you as being in perimenopause however, we use your married of symptoms and age to formulated diagnosis.

There is DUTCH testing that is a comprehensive hormone test using dried urine to analyse and confirm your hormonal pattern. It can be used as a diagnostic tool for perimenopause.

This test is incredible at providing insights around how your body is creating, breaking down utilizing and excreting or metabolising your hormones. If there’s any bottleneck or in this process that are driving up your symptoms.

Incorporating a mix of nutritional and herbs. My top go-to’s:

⭐️ magnesium glycinate, Ashwaganda (withania), Lions mane, lemon balm, B6 vitex, L-theanine, vitamin D.

As well as, ensuring you’re eating the right amount of protein, complex carbohydrates fats and fibre to support your body to produce and balance hormones, think clea

Hormone Testing 101: Blood Serum vs. DUTCH Urine Testing (Part 2) 🩸🧪
Blood Serum Testing: The Absorption Snapshot
Shows what’s actively circulating right now. Ideal for checking:
Hormone Therapy: How well you’re absorbing bioidentical HRT (MHT) or synthetic hormones (Pill, Mirena IUD).
Post-synthetic hormone Recovery: Tracking how natural rhythms return after coming off birth control.
Key Non-Steroid Hormones: Thyroid panels and Vitamin D (yes, it’s a hormone!).
DUTCH Urine Testing: The Deep Metabolism & Stress Map
For complex cases, blood doesn’t tell the whole story. DUTCH (called endoscan or endomap in Australia) shows how your body creates, uses, breaks down, and detoxifies hormones:
The Adrenal-Thyroid-Ovarian Axis: Maps how stress, thyroid function, and s*x hormones interact.
24-Hour Stress Response: Tracks daily cortisol, cortisone, and melatonin curves to uncover true adrenal health, fatigue, or “wired but tired” nights.
Pathway Bottlenecks: Pinpoints where hormones get shunted or stuck instead of clearing safely.
The Takeaway: Blood shows what’s circulating; DUTCH shows how your body processes it across your adrenals, brain, and cycle.

Spilling the coffee on hormonal testing... ☕️👇
There are a few “hills I will die on” topics as a clinical naturopath! How we test hormones during key life transitions is right at the top of that list.
Whether you’re navigating perimenopause, going through IVF, or trying to understand how your body is actually absorbing your bioidentical hormones (MRT) or synthetic hormones (like the pill or an IUD) where and how we test matters.
Here’s the short version before my next client walks through the door:
🩸 Serum (Blood) Testing: Excellent for seeing what’s circulating in your blood and checking your baseline absorption.
🧪 Dried Urine Testing (DUTCH / Endomap / Endoscan): The gold standard for looking at how your body metabolises and clears those hormones through your liver and pathways.
Both have a very specific time and place, but using the wrong one for the wrong situation is one of the biggest reasons women end up with confusing results!

Pop PART 2 below in the comments if you want me to break down exactly when I order bloods vs. when I order an Endomap/DUTCH test! 👇

Living with POTS and hypermobility usually means playing an endless game of “where did my blood pressure go?” and “why are my joints doing that?” 🙃
Enter compression pants designed specifically for autonomic dysfunction and joint instability. Standard compression leggings usually don’t cut it when it comes to preventing heavy blood pooling in the lower body, but these actually target the right pressure zones to keep blood flowing upward and offer extra support to keep joints feeling locked in instead of hyper-extending.
These pants also boost your performance, too. By keeping blood circulating properly and providing targeted joint stability, these help you get so much more out of your training. Better venous return means less fatigue, better stamina during your workouts, and much stronger recovery afterward so you actually see the results of the hard work you put in.
First impressions? My heart rate is noticeably happier, standing feels a little less like a workout, and my sessions feel way more productive.
For my fellow potsies and zebra squad: what’s your go-to gear for managing symptoms and staying active on high-gravity days? 🦓 Vertical life is tough, but good gear helps.

🚩🚩🚩Advocating for yourself & trusting your gut when practitioners say “everything came back normal.” 🚩🚩🚩
There is nothing more frustrating than knowing deep down that something is off with your health, only to be told that there is nothing wrong, nothing abnormal, and nothing to see here.
🔬To truly get to the root cause of your presenting symptoms, the bare-minimum starting point should be getting a blood test.
🔬 I highly recommend dried urine hormone testing (The DUTCH Test). It doesn’t just show what hormones you have; it looks at how your body is producing, breaking down, metabolising, and utilising them. It can clearly show if pathways are blocked, shunted, or directing traffic into a backlog that points to detoxification issues.
🔬 Other investigations like comprehensive scans or internal ultrasounds to see the full structural picture.

If a practitioner tells you “nothing’s wrong” but your gut says otherwise, keep asking questions.
And if you feel exhausted by the process, bring a trusted friend or family member with you. Let them sit in the room, help you ask the tough questions, and push back alongside you.
Don’t settle until you feel heard. ❤️
Comment “TEST” below if you want to learn more about comprehensive testing options, or share this with someone who needs to hear it today. 👇

Your vaginal microbiome changes as your hormones change, especially when oestrogen takes a dip during your cycle, perimenopause, or after menopause. 🌸
During these transitions, tissue sensitivity, dryness, and susceptibility to conditions like thrush, bacterial vaginosis(BV), or vaginal atrophy can increase. While we focus a lot on internal support, external care matters just as much.
Switching to organic bamboo underwear offers natural antibacterial and antifungal protection without harsh synthetic materials. It’s softer than cotton, completely biodegradable, and gives your body the breathable environment it needs to thrive.
I love this particular brand Vee Underwear 🫶🏽. I’ve tried many but this one is brilliant because they are super soft. They’ve got lots of different options in colours & shapes to suit all different body types 🍑
They are Australian made brand too, so it’s nice to support a local business 💜
