NDIS CHANGES OCTOBER 2026: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Several important NDIS updates have taken effect this October. Here's what participants, families and Support Coordinators should know.

1. NDIS Support Budget Changes
From 1 October, funding changes began affecting Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills. Changes are being introduced progressively, depending on individual plans.

2. Mandatory SIL Provider Registration
Existing unregistered Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers were required to apply for registration by 1 October 2026 to continue delivering supports while their applications are assessed.

3. Clearer Service Agreements
The NDIA has released new resources to help participants better understand their service agreements, supports and options.

Here are 5 important questions to ask your SIL provider:

Are you registered or have you submitted your registration application?

Will these changes affect my current supports?

What happens to my home if my SIL provider changes?

How will my clinical and support information be transferred?

Who will coordinate my transition if one becomes necessary?

Your home, your choices and your continuity of care matter.

A change in SIL provider doesn't automatically mean you need to move house, but understanding your rights and having a plan is essential.
