❓Did you know LA Therapy provides PD and in-service offerings?

Last month I was invited to present at the Goulburn Valley Health Perinatal ECHO on Neonatal Intensive Care Music Therapy. We discussed how music can be a supportive developmental tool and enhance the parent-infant relationship and family experience in neonatal settings.

It is always so enlightening to see the curiosity and interest to expand services across the health networks in Victoria and Australia, and the growing interest of music therapy as an evidenced-based support for infants and families in the perinatal period.

Ending the week with our kangaroo ears on 🦘💚

So special to help mark the end of the Kangaroo-a-thon alongside Bree, the peer support worker providing support for families on the unit - raising awareness for the incredible impact of skin-to-skin (kangaroo) care for babies and families.

Kangaroo care supports bonding, regulation, development, and connection during some of the most vulnerable moments of early life 🤍

It was a privilege to share more about music therapy in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and to highlight our new pilot program at the Mercy Hospital for Women

✨ Reflecting on 2025 - what a year! ✨

This year has been all about advancing neonatal and perinatal music therapy through programs, education, and collaboration. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this work and the families, clinicians, and organisations who make it possible 🩷🎶

Highlights from 2025 include:
🌸 Launching Connect & Bloom to support families in the community following NICU/SCN stays
🩺 Delivering PDs and workshops across NICU and professional development settings to support clinical practice and advocacy
📚 Presenting at national conferences, sharing research and practice
💡 Collaborating with the IPEACH crew, including delivering our first interdisciplinary workshop
💜 Partnering with Miracle Babies Australia to strengthen program development
I’m proud of these contributions and the ways they help increase access to music therapy in neonatal and perinatal care across Australia.

I’m looking forward to 2026, with many exciting initiatives already underway, and continuing to learn, grow, and support this community 🌟

Today we celebrate the strength of preterm babies and the incredible families and care teams who support them every step of the way.

In the NICU, every small moment matters and music therapy offers gentle, evidence-based support for stability, neurodevelopment, and early bonding 🎶✨

From helping little bodies regulate to nurturing those first parent–infant connections, music therapy is one way we can give preterm babies a strong start and a hopeful future 💫👶🏻💜
