💚 Wrapping up Infant Mental Health Awareness Week | 8-14 June 2026
Infant Mental Health Awareness Week shines a spotlight on the importance of relationships in supporting infant mental health.
This year’s theme, Attunement, refers to the process of noticing, understanding, and responding to a baby’s cues and communications.
In music therapy, attunement is supported through shared musical experiences between babies and their caregivers. Through voice, rhythm, melody, observation, and responsiveness, music becomes a way of connecting and communicating.
In the NICU, where medical equipment, stress, and separation can sometimes make connection feel more difficult, music therapy can create opportunities for parents to engage with their baby in meaningful and developmentally supportive ways.
These moments don’t need to be perfect. Small moments of connection help babies experience:
✨ I see you
✨ I hear you
✨ I’m with you
Attunement grows through these everyday moments of connection.
